Amazon India — cheap tricks during worst time in lockdown for users
I have been using amazon for a long time and have been a prime member since last 2 years. I started seeing mobile number verification in the android app before a few months ago so i would switch to the website for checking out. I did this because i use flipkart and a few other platforms as well where you can add a mobile number but that is not mandatory. Recently, while in lockdown, i tried to get an order and the website also had this mandatory input for mobile number registration for ordering even though my address had a mobile number i have been using for years with amazon There are multiple addresses in my account and different mobile numbers so when this became mandatory i knew that amazon is doing something fishy that i wouldn't want to be a part of. When asked to their rep (Nandini) she mentioned that if you verify the mobile number, then no one would use that number in a bad manner. So she says, that someone will buy an item and add my number to bother me with the amazon status messages. Does that make sense? What makes sense to me is that amazon is getting greedier for user data rather than customer satisfaction since they are blowing up. My complain is that this policy should be reverted and i should be able to checkout without having to add a mobile number to my account and having to mandatorily verify it. Revert mandatory account mobile number verification. Was this information helpful?
