Amazon India — Sharing of confidential information with their partners
I have an account at Amazon India and occasionally I make online purchases using my credit card. While doing it, Amazon India stores my credit card number. Yesterday (26 Jan 2017) i received an email and an SMS from Amazon.com (which is a partner of Amazon India) that US$99 has been charged on my credit card for Amazon Prime Membership annual fee. I do not have an account at Amazon.com. How could Amazon India share my credit card information with their partner Amazon.com and allow them to make a payment on the card without my consent. On contacting Amazon India, I was informed that their partner work independently and I have to communicate with them. Why should Amazon India provide my confidential information about the credit card to their partner and ask me to settle the issue with them directly. Was this information helpful?
