Sir, I am Senior Citizen residing at No.1, Damodaran Street, Chetpet, Chennai - 600031. I was in the habit of walking on Spurtank Road. However since the lockdown two wheelers are always driving on the wrong side of the road. With the footpath full of encroachments I had four near miss hits by a two wheeler and auto. Most of the vehicles come from the roundabout at Casa Major Road / Spurtank Road junction to get into Dr Santhosam Road or into T V Naidu Street (for Shree Mithai). Instead of making a U turn at Shree Mithai cutting they prefer to drive on the wrong side of the road. This happens also beyond Chittibabu Street for vehicles coming to Sankaralayam or even as far as Lamech Avenue. There is a police station exactly at the Halls Road roundabout and it should be feasible for them to ensure that vehicles do not go on the wrong side of the road. Please help old people like me to walk freely on the road without the danger of being knocked down. Was this information helpful? |
