Consolidated charges for A/c
Hi,
I have salary account with Axis bank, Cochin branch.
They had deducted 300Rs+ 30.90(Service Tax @10.30%) from my account, when i asked them why this happened they told me that I can have only 3 transaction allow in a month.
If my transaction increase by 3 then I will be charged by 50Rs + Service Tax per transaction. As far as I know no bank has such rules and it is nowhere stated in their site. And their customer care is the worst, they wont even reply to your emails and in phone-banking you have to try several times.
Has anybody having the same issues?
Regards
Prabith

hi...
I have a saving account in axis bank and recently my balance has been cut of Rs. 4268 and 10.30% tax on that again Rs. 426 stating consolidated charges...
There is no information regarding this charges in their site and i dont know y my so much money has been deducted. |
Yes, I m also trapped by the same problem. My salary account is with Axis Bank, Vadodara.
Rs. 3663 has been cut off from my account under header of "Consolidated charges". I checked with bank, but they are saying they haven't received any details of the deduction. They told me to meet on 2nd Apr, 2009 (i.e. tomorrow)..
Hey Prabith, can u tell me what response you got from customer care over there ?
Are they saying maximum 3 transactions from ATMs other than Axis bank ?
Such rules are never mentioned in their website or anything else... This is ridiculous.. they have our money so they can do anything with them... i dont trust any private banks now. |
I have a salary account in Axis Bank and Rs 571.95 was deducted from my account. Service tax amounting to 58.91 was also deducted, stating consolidated charges.
This was not informed earlier to us, that this amount will be deducted from our account.
Can we get clear clarification, about this consolidated charges.
What it is?
Also this charges varies from account to account.
Very frustrating.
Need clarification from Banks. |
Hi Nirman,
The reply I got from the customer care is very funny. The customer care executive was saying 3 transaction includes 'Third Party Transfer', "ATM Transaction', Cheque Collection everything. I confirmed about each and every transaction, the executive was saying 'Yes', "yes'. As per the executive it doesnt related to the Other ATM's other than axis bank, because I have a gold debit card, inwhich withdrawal from any ATM is permitted and the charge levied will be reversed. It means, if you are having a salary transfer account, the best way to escape from the consolidated charges is to give a standing instruction to transfer the money to some other branch once the salary is credited. Even then you will make two transactions per month as per Axis Bank's norms :-).
Many of my collegues have got the same issues. How about complaining to Banking Ombudsman?

| On similar grounds amount of 1100+Service tax @10.3 has been deducted from my account. Kindly inform is this deduction valid. In todays world in INdai trend is to do everything through e-cash, this is to de-motivate user for using e-cash |
| Just approach Banking ombudsman in your area. within seven days they will reverse all the charges. |

Consolidated charges for A/c
Hi,
I have salary account (0 balance) with Axis bank, Kankurgachi branch, Kolkata ( a/c no. 017010100227162.
They had deducted Rs. 900.00+ 92.70(Service Tax @10.30%) from my account on 30.03.2009, when i asked them why this happened they told me that I can have only 3 transaction allow in a month. Before that they never did this type of deduction. Even they never communicate me or never send any notice or circular before deduction. No Bank is deducting this transaction charges. If it is not under RBI rules, then how they can do this?
Quarterly only 9 transaction is free, beyond that they will deduct Rs. 50.00 per transaction + Service Tax(10.30%). I visited the my operational branch & Zonal Head Branch officials. They are unable to provide justification.
Can anybody take this matter legally for taking action against Axis Bank.

I am working for a real estate company called Silverline Realty since July last year and our salary accounts are at AXIS BANK Cox Town branch.Up yo mid March I had no reason to complain, BUT on March 30
when I went to withdraw Rs.15000 from the ATM, I found that the funds were insufficient.I pulled out the mini statement and to my horror realised that the bank had KNOCKED OFF Rs, 3600 as CONSOLIDATED CHARGES AND RS.367 as Service Tax from my account.I rushed to the branch to enquie, met the manager, But she said she wasnt in a position to help me before First week of April
I reahed office and asked the other employees about their accounts and realised all of them had been fleeced .The company wrote to the bank and got a reply saying details will follow but we havent heards from them yet..Now the company is left with no choice but to close the account, but those of us who suffered losses are not compensated
.I am thinking of taking legal action
Here are details of correspondence we exchanged

Hi,
I have got a response from the axis bank customer care after 15 days!!!. I have mailed to salary.power@axisbank.com on 31/03/2009 and got a reply on 16th april (The could have sent a postal mail in 15 days :-))
This was the content of the mail
Dear Sir/Madam,
Sorry for the delay.
We thank you for writing to us. With reference to your mail this is to inform you that branch transactional charges are applicable to all SAPPL accounts and charged @ Rs.50+Tax per transaction beyond 9 free transactions per quarter. The same had been communicated to all salary account customers through our quarterly statement of accounts during Q 3 in the last financial year. While Branch transactions entail all customer-induced transactions it excludes Bank Induced, System generated and ATM transactions from the purview of charging.
