Same happened to me. I am out of pocket Euro180 I am going to start to write to each hotel in their list telling them about all the customers who are being ripped off by this company.
Last July I booked 2 overnights on this website but unfortunately I was unable to travel on the dates booked. I cancelled the booking well in advance of the date I was due to travel and I am still waiting for my refund. I have emailed this website at least ten times but I was given every excuse under the sun and now they are not replying to my emails at all. DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE TO BOOK ANYTHING - YOU WILL REGRET IT!!
Bookinhotels.com is a FRAUD. They take you money as soon as you book a hotelroom but don't forward the booking to the hotel. Then after a while they send you a mail that your booking has been cancelled due to 'financial issues'. I checked with the hotel and they had never even received my booking! Now I'm still waiting for my refund.
Also: after my booking someone tried to charge 550 dollars from my credit card. Coincidence? I think not. I reported this to my credit card company and they're investigating it as credit card fraud.

I am another victim of bookinhotels.com!!! I cannot believe this webiste is still functioning after waht I have been reading about it.
I booked a hotel back in April to stay in York on 20th August through them and 2 days prior to my reservation date I received an email saying that they had to cancel my booking due to problems with their supplier and I should receive an email back shortly.
To date I haven't had a refund back I have send numerous messages through their website, emailed them and tried to call them but I never get no answer.
I did not book with a credit card just my visa therefore I have no type of insurance against fraud. I am starting to get really worried as £91 is a lot of money to me and Im not sure what else I can do.
I am so angry that these people can be allowed to do this, this day and age and that they are allowed to come up on google search engines and trip advisor. They should be shut down!

but when we reached a hotel. the claremont hotel manager reply that there was no hotel booking from bookinghotels.com
At time we got socked and called on bookinhotel.com customer service. they told that
We regret to inform you that due to the financial issues between our supplier and us we cannot honor your booking therefore full refund is going to be made to your credit card provided.We sincerely apologize for the late notification. For any questions or concerns, you may contact our customer representatives via e mail or via our contact phones at any time. This is a very regrettable incident and we are very sorry indeed.

They can cancel on you at the last minute, and won't refund you if you cancel.
Here is the account of my experience: crappy service, mischiefs and lies !
- March 24 : I book a reservation, and I am charged 100% of the amount right away (241 EUR)
- April 27th : I get a call from their service requesting that I pay an additional 45 EUR (about 15% of the initial amount) if I want to keep my reservation!!! This was already unbelievable and unseen (by me at least) practice!
- April 30th : I have to cancel my reservation. I receive a cancellation message stating : " All credit card refunds are processed in a timely manner (Note : that makes me laugh now). Typically, this process takes several weeks (business days) for the instruction to leave our company account. The refunds process depends on your billing cycle with the cooperated credit card company. Once the refunded amount leaves our company account, it may take up to two months time for the proceeds to appear back in your account.". I was in AWE!!! Where else on Earth can be seen such business practices ?
- Early July : multiple calls to the hotline in the UK (where very often one gets hang up on!!!). At some point one of the unnamed clerk tells me he processed my request and I should be credited within 3 days. Obviously did NOT happen!
- Late July or early August : same thing, another clerk gives me the same talk (I gather this is openly some sort of technique to mislead the clients!!!).
- August 3rd : I ask to be sent an email stating that I will be refunded shortly : I received the following message : " This is to inform you that the total amount of 286, 64 EUR has been refunded to the credit card provided at the time of booking and this will appear on your bank statement in 7 days."
- August 13th : now 10 days have passed, and I am still waiting for my refund. I just sent an email to the "customerservice" email address to which we are not supposed to reply, and file another complaint on your website and also sent a message to dilek(dot)yeni(at)bookinhotels(dot)com, an address I found on another forum. This person is supposed to be some sort of manager there...
I have yet to see what my banx and credit card service can do. I am also considering legal action (not that I now anything about law, or know that something can be done against them). Any advice is welcome... (thanks)
Bottomline : BEWARE and STAY AWAY from bookinhotels.com !!!
