[Resolved]  Brainstorm Consulting — Non refund of advance taken for services

The overseas educational consultants, brainstorm consultants Bangalore, contacted us in response to our query to just dial for overseas educational consultants in Bangalore. We approached them for applications to management courses in Canada, preferably for May 2012 intake. The first meeting was in the end of Jan 2012. We were told in detail about how professional they are and how they will not collect money unless they are sure of admissions.

However, to start any process, they required INR 12,500/- to shortlist and apply for 5 colleges. We paid it up the same day after explaining our urgency and the need to start the process asap. We were promised to have things moving within a day or two as the dates for most universities were about to close for May intake.

After a few days, we started following up and we heard that an online account was set up now and we can monitor all progress through the account. We waited for the list for a few days and again contacted them. They said twice the list is sent, which never reached our inbox. Then it was confirmed that the list is in the online account. Post this, we also requested them for a list of college courses, which again took equally long period. After drawing up the list, someone from their office contacted mentioning us that visa might be tough even if we make it through colleges and the applications would be at our risk. Every matter was highlighted to the main person through phone in between. He told us a different version assuring it will all be fine. But the office maintained the high risk story.

In the meanwhile we got really apprehensive on the whole process; asked the consultant not to render any more service and to refund the money. Meanwhile, got an admission done for the May intake with the help of another consultant, the dates of which already passed by as we were co-ordinating with our first confused consultants.

Result was alarming, they just refused to refund the money and argued with us how can we ever say their service was bad, after contradicting their own stand in between adn the delays! They said we could avail next sem services or they would forfeit the money.

We can only think of this firm as a one surviving on such charities! I would think that any professional firm would refund teh money, in case services are not rendered to the satisfaction of the customer. It is al about trust! which they never lived up to!

We need the refund of the money after any deduction for their work on shortlisting 10 colleges! It is just the 20% job of teh whole admission procedure which includes essays and other document preparations, none of which were done!
