[Resolved] Chandigarh Traffic Police — Unnecessary harrassment & ingenuine challan | |||
Dear Sir, This is a complaint regarding unnecessary & egoist harrassment by one of the official of chandigarh traffic police posted at Housing board chowk near panchkula (Person belong to sikh community). Dear Sir, today 26.06.10 at about 07:15 PM , i was driving from my office at sec-8 chd to my residence at panchkula, when at housing board near panchkula i was at spped of 50km/hr and crossed the signal before it converted to yellow signal. In the maenwhile a sikh (Sikh Traffic havaldar) came in front of my car and stoped me. He ingenuinely and rudely told me that have crosse the red light. I very politely replied that gentleman i am aware of all the traffic rules and i know that when i crossed the line it was green and when i just reached the line @ 50km/hr and light is green the it is not advsed to have a sidden brake as it can be unsafe both for me as well as the vehicle ahead as well as in front of my vehicle because @ 50km/hr, there is some braking distance which is safe and it was just green, then why should i stop. That gentleman very rudely replied that "i know what is right or wrong, i will challan and i don;t care about any statement given by you, i am a policeman and i can do whatever i want to do, you can't do anything". I again requested him and told him that i am not a new driver and i know when to cross the road and i always drive as per traffic rules and this time also i am driving as per rules and regulations of the traffic, but that sikh havaldar was not listening and was becoming very egoist. The policeman with him also tried to explain something to him, but he straightway told him that be in your limits, i am your senior and whatever i am saying is always right, that gentleman very shamefully went aside, he was also not happy with the response of his senior. I kept on requesting him that i have done no wrong, but he kept on replying me that i'll do as per by wish and also using some abusive language that i can not write in this mail. That havaldar being an elder person, i at the end stop telling anything and he give me a chalan note and kept my licence with him and told me very harshly that now go to sec-29 and get the licence from there. I took the challan and went to home. Dear Sir, it is very shameful for the reputation of the such as reputed chandigarh traffic police that such persons like that sikh traffic havaldar is working as per his own ego and his own wish. I have no issues about going to sec-29 and get my licence by paying the fine, but my only request is that such officials should be questioned by the higjer officials of the police about not to harras the common people and not to do misuse of their uniform. Hope some srtict actions will be taken against that policeman so that in future he should not ingenuinely harras the common people and should not misuse his powers. Please take action.I agree with this complainty as i also being harrased by chandigarh police .I was being charged of Rs.100 fine which was to be given to the pocket of police fr personal use at almost 10am at lights of 17/9/7 sectors on 19th august.please take strict action.as these attitudes of police leads to the creation of naxalism in india
What happened with Mr.Amit, the same happened with me at mohali-chandigarh chownk almost 20 days back i think.He took 100rs as bribe

This is absolutely correct and the cases is on high . Politeness has totally gone . yesterday the lighht was not working and I took a left turn, he charged me for 3 offence .

Also my number is from Delhi and it has been 2 months here . It looks like they keep soft target for number plates which are outside delhi . I had a good reputation of Chandigarh traffic but it is like they are enjoying this little power and have not seen the world .

Sir, today 26.10.10 at about 05:10PM, i was driving from my office from sec-9 chd to my residence at Mohali, when at Sector-22 & 23 lights i was at spped of 30km/hr and crossed the signal before it signal before it changed to yellow signal. In the meanwhile a Traffic havaldar came in front of my bike and stoped me. He ingenuinely and rudely told me that have crosse the red light. I very politely replied that policeman I have not crossed, it got changed in yellow after crossing as I was the last one. That Havaldar Ram Kumar & other one his name starts from "B" very rudely replied "TU MUJE MAT BTA". I have also reported all my concern to DSP office sector-29 office. Sir since last 5-years I am driving in Chandigarh.This is the first time such kind of policeman stopped me without any mistake. I am very much aware about the rules and regulations.This is very shameful for the reputation of the such as reputed chandigarh traffic police which known as best in our country. But such persons like that traffic havaldar is working as per his own ego and his own wish. I have no issues about going to sec-29 to pay fine which I already did, but my only request is that such officials should be questioned by the higjer officials of the police about not to harras the common people and not to do misuse of their authority. Hope some srtict actions will be taken against that policeman so that in future he should not ingenuinely harras the common people and should not misuse his powers. Please suggest not just to do the counting of CHALLEN SLIPS. Better to concentrate who is right or who is wrong.

I am totally agree with ankush wotever he wrote is absolutely true. Chandigarh police is not here for the help of general public and for the law implimentation .... They are just here for making money by showing the power of their uniform that they can do any thing with anyone bacause they have the licence to do so.. If a common man touched the zebra crossing in the hurry its a very serious crime in the point of view of that traffic police officer but when they ask the same man for the the bribe saying that dekhlo ETHE HI NIPTNA HAI KI CHALLAN KATAN.. how we can trust those persons which are meant for the help of the common people askin for the bribe ....these are like those criminals which are premitted by the government to perform such kind of crime .....................The same thing I suffered today 29/11/2010 while i reached chandigarh from palampur ( himachal ) for the shopping for my wedding. I was on 22c petrol pump near AROMA hotel for the tyre check when i was there a man came there telling me that my number plate is not correct it is fancy and police can do my chaalaan i told him that it is cleary visible by anyone on the road he went from there and made a hand sign to someone I just ignored that but suddenly a police men came ther and asked for my licence i gave it to him and he told me the same thing wotever the person told me a few seconds before and that police man told me that it is a very seriuos offence and is chargeable not less than 3000 rs. while i requested him he directly asked me the 700 rs to leave from the challan That time I got depressed and paid him 200 rs bribe and he also forcely changed my number plate by he same person who was telling me about this thing.....i just want to ask a simple Question from the responsible authorities that there is noone who can take care of such kind of serious crime else i suggest govt. to permit these police men to perform crime legally .Please if anyone who is really honest and have the power to stop this all bad stuff plase do some thing.....

While driving from delhi to baddi, himachal predesh, on 21 st may`11 we were stopped by traffic police at tribune chowk and tols us that the number plate is not proper and we have to bear a challan, and have to travel to traffic court and deposite the fine amount. We requested them to take amount there only as in delhi, as we have to go a a long way.
They asked for Rs 500 to settel the matter there only without any challan.
We being a law binding citigen, request the concern authority to look in to the matter.
Being a car from other city does not have time to argue and waste time on the way, and have no option but to lubricate the police.

I agree with the corrupt attitude of CP these days. These ASIs with few hawaldaars find a place where they can trap people rather than places where most accidents can happen. Thier Logo says"WE CARE FOR YOU" and their behavior displays how they care .Guys do drop a mail on [protected]@nic.in, [protected]@yahoo.com; [protected]@nic.in; [protected]@nic.in, [protected]@nic.in. At least they should get a written notification.

Dear Sir, today 09.12.2015 at about 06.05 PM, i was driving from sector 22 to my office sector 35 ... i was stopped by sikh head constable pointing at that chowk and he tell me that i had crossed the light when it is red but i have crossed the light before it was about to 5 second remaining but your officer rudely talk with me and i was unnecessarily challand by him my challan no. Is 43771 it was a wrong challan that done by him so my only request is that such officials should be questioned by the higher officials of the police about not to harras the common people and not to do misuse of their uniform. Hope some srtict actions will be taken against that policeman so that in future he should not ingenuinely harras the common people and should not misuse his powers. Everyone here is absolutely right about the behavior of the traffic cops. They are rude and misuse their power as no one is watching them and they have to fulfill their so called Challan Targets. They are not event ready to listen to logical explanation.
The third light on Purv Marg from where we take right to reach the main road between sector 29(left) and sector 28(right), is not efficient as we don't know when the green light to go right will stop. So the driver either applies hard brakes and ends up on the zebra crossing or else just crosses the light even when the light to go right has stopped. This is a genuine issue but rather than listening to a logical reasoning, the cop has to issue a challan!
Please address this issue as we are decent drivers who know rules and don't deliberately commit offenses.
