Unresolved Product Issues
I have a Side by Side refrigerator purchased in May 2008 and from day one it has been giving us problems of “No Cooling”.
In the first year ,after more than a month of keeping the fridge ‘Under Observation”, they replaced the PCB during the warranty period as there was ice formation in the freezer compartment. The engineer who replaced the PCB in May 2009 told me that I need to defrost the fridge every 3 months else it will not work. Now that defeats the entire purpose of having a ‘frost free’ refrigerator but nevertheless I did switch off my fridge for 2 days every 3 months as instructed by him but yet in March 2010 there was ice formation in the freezer compartment. After several visits from many engineers (some to check cooling and some to check if a gas refill was required), they replaced the PCB saying that it was faulty and did not charge me anything saying that there was a problem with the refrigerator. I would also like to add that when the engineer opened the refrigerator there was a thick 1inch block of ice formed behind the freezer compartment. I had to keep my fridge off for 3 days before the ice completely melted and the PCB could be replaced.
But again in April 2010, the fridge and the freezer lower two compartments were not cooling at all…the temperature was even below room temperature. All the food stuff from both the sections got spoilt and I had to discard the same. The engineer who has been visiting my house ever since I registered the complaint on 30/04/2010 has acknowledged that there is a cooling issue. I even spoke to some senior engineer from Delhi who told me that it was normal for temperatures to drop in summers but also admitted that the temperature should not go down to below room temperature. Today when I checked my freezer, there is ice formation again in the lower compartments.
Haier engineers, every time they visit give me some lame reasons as to why the fridge is not working. One even went to the extent of saying that the side by side refrigerators always give an issue and one should not buy it! Now that is not something a customer needs to hear from the company’s employee especially when the product does not work!!
Even after paying so much for a fridge from a reputed company I have to deal with problems that never seem to go away! Not once has anybody senior bothered calling me up and giving me some permanent solution to this. The engineers come here and experiment on my fridge like its some testing unit for them and promise me that they will talk to their seniors to find some solution to my problem
