[Resolved]  Home Town Noida — Delay in assembling furniture, misleading discount offer advertisement

I had ordered 3 tables, with 100% payment in advance rom HomeTown NOIDA last week. Home Town promised deliery in 2 days and assembly the next day. Although the furniture delivery came on time, they never sent anyone to ssemble the furniture on the next day. This is despite several assurances that someone will definitely be sent, someone is on the way(!), etc. I had to reschedule my whole day so I could be present when the assembly people came from Home Town, but they not only didnt send anyone despite false promises to me, they even switched off the mobile phone they provided me, to avoid my enquiries/reminders.

This is totally unprofessional behavior. At the least, they should be honest and forthright about this. If thet cant sen someone on the promised day, basic courtesy and business sense dictates that they should keep the consumer informed of this.

Secondly, Home Town had a "Up to 40% CASH BACK" offer in which they gave me coupons worth Rs. 2000 to spend on items from their store. The asteris(* note) on the advertisement claims that "Some Restrictions Apply". I spent close to two hours finding items that met my needs in the store worth Rs. 2000 to use the coupons. On reaching the cash counter, they told me that none of the items I wanted were eligible to purchase on the Cash Back coupons. In fact, there are ONLY A HANDFUL of overpriced, third rate brand (their own) and quality items that we can purchase using the cash back offer. The items in the store aren't marked with indicators on whether cash back voucher is applicable on them or not. You need to go to each department, find the (hard to find) salemen and ask them what can be bought in the cash back offer from that department.

In the furnishings department, for example, only a handful of bedsheets (one shelf) is eligible. In the decorations department, there is nothing - not even the picture frames that can be bought. Similarly the kitchen department has only one lousy brand of overpriced jugs/containers that can be bought.. Nothing in the applicances and electronics section, and so on.

...what is the purpose of a cash back discount, when consumers cant purchase 99% of the items in the store. It is MISLEADING to say "Some restrictions apply" when Some refers to 99% of the items in the store. Instead, they should say that you can buy Jugs, bedsheets, and these specific items ... or say "Several Restrictions apply" on the cash back coupons.
