I have almost a similar experience with HSBC, they were infact more cruel to me.
By the way are you aware that HSBC holds 5% stake in CIBIL, which it bought in 2005.
So they are hand-in-glove for all practical purposes and damn care about destroying even sincere peoples hard earned reputation.

I had the credit card of HSBC for around 2 years. It was offerred to me Free of cost with an assurance that no renewal charges etc would be charged. When the renewal charges were levied, I requested them to close my account and that i am not interested in paying the renewal charges and my account be closed, the balance amount was duly paid by me to the Bank.
Now the Bank has written off the amount not collectd on account of Card renewal and forwarded my name to CIBIL as a defaulter on Credit Card payments. This has created a negative profile for me and caused a setback to my credibility amongst the other Bankers.
I tried to call the numbers of agencies in Punes and Mumbai but numbers are invlid and wrong.
Kindly get the issue solved ASAP.
