[Resolved]  ICFAI — Waste of Money

Address:Delhi

I have heard numerous complaints about ICFAI and is surprised taht nobody is bothered to take some serious action against this university. They have opened this university just to make money and cheat the innocent student. They don't even have a proper website for the part time courses. Even I registered for ICFAI MBA program in Oct 2007, like other students i also faced the problem for getting low scores since then. ICFAI has decided to have their students appear atleast 4-5 times for a single exam because they will make money out of that. I just asked them a simple question one year ago about the number of student enrolled and passed for the distance learning MBA program. But ICFAI is not bothered to answer any question and I am waiting for a reply since then.

Being a distance learning course / part time course ICFAI is very smart enough to collect money upfront before the start of the course because they know nobody is going to clear that. They don't have any offices, nobody is their to help student, it's almost 3 years since I registered for this course and I haven't received any email or any message from them regarding exams or anything related to an student but yes I used to get remainders for the remaining fees.

To all students - Guys please thing twice thrice and infinte times before taking admission in any part time course from this university, this is my personal experience and I know atleast 20 people who agrees with me. Money is very hard to earn so don't waste it on institution like this where you don't have anyone to look after your compaints and issues.

Thanks
Vivek Agarwal

Dear Mr. Vivek Agarwal,

In your above complaint, you have not indicated your enrolment number.

Since you have not furnished the details of your Enrollment Number, we are unable to address your grievance. If you provide the details, we shall take up the matter with the concerned university authorities and attend to the issue.

Dear Mr.Vivek Agarwal,

Your allegation that the University is cheating is purely your imagination and no institute will do that. You may feel that you have answered the papers well but the mistakes you commit might have missed your attention leading to wrong / incomplete answers. For example, you have quoted even your enrolment number in the blog wrongly. The cause of failure could be such mistakes.

Please note that unlike regular classes, students of distance learning are mostly employed and pursue the programs at a pace which is convenient to them. Also they have long validity to complete the program. Hence, your query does not necessarily lead to deductible inference. However, for your information, the pass percentage of various Groups for the distance learning MBA ranges between 40% to 50%.

Please note that hard work and quality of learning will only see a student successfully complete the program and not the number of attempts.

Hope this clarifies the position.

Examination Department
Hello Examination Department,

So my allegation that the University is cheating is purely my imagination and those thousands of complaints against ICFAI are also part of imagination of other student and you (ICFAI Tripura) is doing the great job by just replying to these imaginative queries. I think you haven't typed ICFAI complaints on google, just try it once and you will get to know your image.

My only question to you is why are you collecting the full fees upfront for a distance learning program? If I am not interested doing this course you should refund my money.
For instance if I want to quit this program after Group A then why should I pay for rest of the groups?
You charge heavy fees for Tutorials for all the groups so why should i pay for those books that i haven't received?

You just can't take all of my money if i don't want to continue. I hope you will reply to this in 1 or 2 days.

Vivek Agarwal

Dear ICFAI SSD,

As i have informed you already, I cant continue with the
program due to my health problem and not got proper support from your
side for the course studies.Recently i heard that High court of
madras(Justices S J Mukhopadhaya and V Dhanapalan dated 12th june
2009) had banned you from running institutions of this kind in the
state of Tamil Nadu and you are hereby restrained from running such
institutions .These are the main reasons for my withdrawl.

Actually today i have surveyed all the
complaints against universities over here so finally i found that you
are the one of the leading Grievances holder & most of complaints
against your unfair fee strucutre policies. why are the most of
complaints against your university, that means many students are
suffering from your unfair practices & still if there is such kind of
drawbacks in your policies then why don't u amend it so that students
can get relief. No doubt you are playing safe but this is not the
matter of playing with students. you are here for students welfare not
for personal monetary desires. & in which book of law is written that
student can't withdraw from their studies but still your university
insist not for withdraw from program & in which book of law is written
that the study which he is not studying anymore, he has to pay. &
please sir, now don't say me to mail to ssd & waiting for the
necessary action cause now this is not the matter of you & me only,
thousands of students are waiting for your answer on this mail.

Also find attached to see the public notice from UGC.

The attached notification by UGC dated April 22, 2007, is one of the
best office orders as far as student rights are concerned. It
clearly mandates that no Govt. approved institution can retain fees,
as well as the original certificates. Even withdrawals after the
start of the course must be pro rata.

So consider my request and refund. If you still
don't want to refund, I will file a case against you in the court.
Also will publish this issue in media like all TV channels and leading
news papers.I am expecting the refund as early as possible.

Regards,
M.Selvendran
