[Resolved]  Indian Airlines — Poor Arrangement for Transit passengers at Chennai Airport

Dear Sir ,
Myself , Harvail Singh & my wife took off from Delhi to chennai by Flt. No. IC 540 on 18th Oct 09 , seat nos. 17E & 17F , which took off at 20.00 Hrs & landed at chennai at 22.40Hrs. we had to take next connecting flight IC 549 on 19th Oct, 09 at 5.50 Hrs to Portblair i.e a gap of nearly 7 Hrs. But to our surprise there was no arragement for such passegers to pass such a long time comfortably . All passengers were left to their fate . there was a long with chairs in a bad shape . we had a very hard time that night . Indian Airlines should take care of their passengers in such situations . Same was the condition while returning from Portblair By IC 550 on 22 Oct. 09 which landed at 10.50 Hrs & took connecting flight IC 539 which took off at 18.30 after a gape of more than 7 Hrs . An Ammount of Rs 1000/- was spent as we out in the city by taxi just to kill time . It does not give good immpession of the Airlines in comparison to other Air lines . So take a note of it & take corrective steps.

Dear Sir/Madam,
I’m the Citizen of Singapore, and this is my 2nd time traveling to India.

I always wanted to visit India, because, it’s a lovely country, and all the while I was thinking that the people down there are good.
From my previous visit, and my recent visit, I found something that I would like to highlight to the head officers and bring to their attention.

The customer service officers in the counter are not treating the passengers decently or courteously, especially, Singapore or Malaysia passengers.
They have been so rude and arrogant to the passengers as far as I know.

In our country or other fellow countries, the customer service officers should wear a smile, to entertain the passengers, but in India, they have been so rude.
The reason I’m writing this cos, I was very frustrated with the incident happened on 08 Oct while we were attended by your customer service officer.
My father a Malaysian citizen, enter one of your counter, and the lady officer who has a short hair, wore, blue and white strip blouse, attend to my dad.
She ask my father this question, “You are a Malaysian, and why must you enter Singapore” and my father say, I need to enter Singapore cos, I’m married to my wife down there” and she ask why must he goes to Mannargudi, and what was he doing down there and so on? All this looks as a stupid question to me, as we are returning back to our own country, if we are entering india, then she got the right to ask all this.
But still my father answer to her very patiently, but that lady was not giving up and keep on asking my father what did he do in India, as thought she was expecting something from my father to shut her mouth.

Well, is it necessary for my dad to explain all this things to her, as we are going back to our own country? Why is it necessary to tell her all this things or is she expecting bribe from us?
The way she behave makes us think like that.

It took so long that my husband went there and ask her name, and we were quite surprised to find that she was not wearing a name tag also.
And she refuses to give her name, and she talk very arrogantly asking my husband to complain to the officer if he want.

My husband and my dad got so angry that they went inside the office to go and look for the head officer, also the officer himself not wearing a name tag, and he ask my husband what happen very arrogantly too.
My husband told him what had happen, and to our surprise, the officer never bother about our words, and instead, he took my husband’s and my father’s passport away.
We were all very shock to see this happen in Chennai Airport.

My husband and my dad waited patiently for the next step to be taken, and you know what the officer talk to another officer, he say he wanted to put my husband into the prison for a year and give him “SAATAI ADI” to him so that my husband will change.

This is really very humilated to my husband as he’s the Malaysia’s DAP MP’s son and he’s holding a decent job in Singapore.
We all were very disappointed and if it is were singapore, we would have sue the Officers, but unfortunately, the officers are in India, and I also think now it’s not too late to sue the officer but as a respect, we wanted to inform the head officers first, before we move on to the next step.

We from foreign countries are coming to India for shopping and we are also giving business to India, so we do expect a little gratefullness plus courtesy from your officers, and we were so shock to see this all happen in chennai airport first of all.

The customer service officer who serves did not mention her name to us, or she wore a name tag, but on my father’s passport she have indicated a custom chop as “D18”
This all happened on 08 Oct 2010, at about 9pm India time.

We are kindly requesting the head officers to look into this matter very urgently and take immediate actions on the officers who has involved in this, at the same time, we also need apologieses or explanations from the officers for their rude behaviours.

Thank you.
