[Resolved] Indian Bank — Locking of Savings account without prior Intimation.
Balasubramanian Sama Iyer
from Bangalore, Karnataka
A few months back there when all the banks demanded KYC from customers, I enquired through a person at Liluah Branch of the Indian Bank whether I can submit the KYC at LILUAH Branch though I am having account maintained at STRAND ROAD Branch at Kolkata as I am not having good health. Liluah Branch explained that with core banking system the KYC can be computerised at any branch and I submitted the details at LILUAH Branch. From that time I started receiving week end balances on my mobile. Today when I went to Strand Road Branch of the Indian Bank to get a fresh Cheque Book, I was astonished to hear that my Savings account has been blockedas my KYC has not been submitted though they could verify from the computer the details are available. My cheques are bouncing for no fault of mine. The concerned Officer with whom I discussed that the account has been blocked because the KYC has Not been submitted in the Branch where the account is being maintained. Two types of versions from different Officers of the same organisation is condemnable. Surprising was that Blocking of the account of a Sr. Citizen, a Retired Government Officers which is highly objectionable telling upon the prestige of the Respectable Customer.
