[Resolved]  JEE 2010 — Discrepancy in Paper and OMR

I wish to complain against IIT Madras which conducted the JEE 2010 examination on April 11, 2010.
I want to inform that the Subject order in the OMR was not in order due to which many of my students were not able to do well in the exam. Moreover, there were some questions from topics which were not mentioned in the syllabus. The difficulty level of Maths and some questions in Physics is another serious concern.
I seriously urge the Chairman to conduct the examination once again so that every candidate gets a fair chance to education in the deemed IITs.

Sir,
my name is Ashwin Kumar Singh, and i was one among them who appeared for IIT JEE 2010 test this year, The problem which occured this year was not only limited to the hindi students, even students who preferred English as their medium had to suffer a serious loss in time due to the mistakes (blunders) committed in iit question and OMR sheet this year . its just not as tiny mistake as mr T.S.Natrajan (the organising chairman of iit jee 2010) and many others are trying to prove it .How a person who himself knows that time management is one of the most important criteria of success in such a competitive and tough examination, and where wasting a single second and losing a single mark could throw a student 100s and 1000nds of rank behind, could have thought of giving a name of minor mistakes to such blunders.i am just wondering how are they gonna come out with a justifying idea to the mistakes that they have committed, how are they gonna compensate to the loss of marks of students who missunderstood the instructions(half and wrong instructions), and how are they gonna compensate to the loss of precious time of the students due to all this misunderstandings. And i really don't want them to come out with an idea which is going to sacrifice the lives of lakhs of students in just an anxiety to get rid of the problem which was caused due to carelessness shown by the organising committee of iit jee . I think the only way out now, in which they could justify the students is by conducting a reexamination .

sir, i was one of them who got adversely affected by all this missunderstandings that happened in the examination hall . As you know that, we write the test in two sessions, and each session lasts for 3 hours, which are considered to be utilised fully by us . But the whole confusion started at the very biginning, When we started going through the instructions given on question booklet, it was instructed that "For each question in section ii, you will be awarded 3 marks if you darken the bubble corresponding to the correct answer and zero mark if no bubbles are darkened . Partial marks will be awarded for partially correct answers . No negative marks will be awarded in this section" . ( Zero marks were going to be awarded only when we were not going to choose any of the options given, and partial marks for partially correct answers.) The moment i read that, i thaught it was a trick (by iits or who ever who had made this question paper) to check that, how many of the students actually go through the instructions given on the question paper, and this year all those students who were going to do so were going to steal 93 marks for free and for no pain by just choosing all the given options for the questions in section ii (And so thought many many students like me ), and all of them fell prey to the loophole left (or set) by the IITS(makers of the question paper) And effortlessly losing 93 marks . "93 marks" its a no small deal, it can just make a student get qualified or disqualified in JEE examination. And how are we students supposed to get the instructions right, even when a person who himself belongs to the iits(Rajeev Kumar a professor of CS department of IIT Kharagpur) missunderstood it or understood not in the way in which instructers intended to instruct us. And more over that, they(MR T.S.Natarajan) came up with an explanation that “If all four options are shaded for a question for which there are less than four correct answers then the candidate gets zero. To avail partial mark the number of choices shaded should not exceed the number of correct choices and must include at least one of the correct choices.” which is going to be of no use to the students after the examination being already conducted and is going to work against the students who have already fell prey to them(because they are going to lose 93 marks) .The instructions should have been made crystal clear before the examination was going to be held, and not after being questioned for it, and after ruining the futures of thousands of students.
The other mistake(or the blunder) that occured was cheapest of all, they failed even to prepare a flawless OMR sheet, which does'nt even need their brains to do so, they could have just printed out the last years OMR sheet again, and distributed it all over the examination centres . And however it really need no rocket science to prepare a fresh and flawless OMR Sheet again, and though if they made a printing mistake in the OMR sheet, it could have been easily rectified by just giving a recheck to the OMR sheet, which was not done, and this depicts the carelessness shown by the organising committee of IIT JEE 2010 .And again to this, many students had to pay the cost of incorrect OMR sheet. And this time i think it affected almost all the students who were appearing for this examination, less adversley for many students and deadly for few students. It was deadly for few students because, few of them got the information (right instruction) too late (in the second session of the examination) and to the few, information reached in last few minutes of the first session (and i belong to one of them)which obviously created a sense of panic in the students . Now we had to erase all our previous responses from the OMR sheet and had to again shade the right answers according to the new instructions given to us. And this all should have to be done very carefully as any scrubling in the OMR sheet would have directly disqualified a student.
How they expect us to do all these things in just 10 minutes. And therefore many students like me, who had already marked allmost all the responses, after learning the news started feeling the pressure and could'nt make it happen how it was thaught to be . And i know, all the students like me are going to be disqualified straight away in this manner. And no matter what measures IITS (organising committee) are going to take they just cant rectify this mistake, as the OMR sheets are machine gradable, and the machines are going to show no mercy on us.

And coming to me, iam a dropper, i had attempted iit jee last year also but could'nt make into it that time, but i dropped a year and worked really really hard for it, i wanted to show a rank >300 to my parents, which i don't think is going to happen now. i have dropped an year just to earn a fair chance to write an IIT JEE entrance examination again, And i really dont think that i have got fair chance to do so.
Its really frustrating for me, and after all these mishaps iam in a state of depression and really cant concentrate over other entrance examintions that iam going write now. I am unable to sleep at nights, and can't stop my tears rolling out when ever i think of it .
SIR, I ONLY SEEK A FAIR CHANCE TO WRITE IIT JEE 2010 TEST AGAIN .
