Nokia / E71 — Replacement of newly bought Defective E71 handset

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have recently on the 9th Mar, ’09, bought a brand new E71, Nokia mobile handset from a ‘Hot Spot’ authorized dealer in Delhi, with an appropriate bill. Right from the first day of purchase, the mobile set has been giving some or the other problems. Like the mobile switching to ‘Mute’ automatically, during both incoming & out-going calls. On account of which, the other person is unable to listen to my voice.

I am & have been, a loyal customer of Nokia for quite some time, this being my 3rd, Nokia handset in last 4 years. I am providing the necessary details of my E71 set & purchase particulars (below), for your reference & action.

Nokia/Handset E-71 — Defective handset

I Sulekha Kaul, advocate by profession and resident of 3/27, 3rd Floor, East Patel Nagar, New Delhi 110008 had very recently on 30th July 2008 purchased Nokia Handset E- 71, from Mobile Store, 23/4 East Patel Nagar under the invoice no. DEL/ 01171/00001/6298.

Through this letter I would like to lodge a complaint about defective handset sold to me which showed defects from the date of the purchase itself. Some of the keys of the handset are not functioning and as a result I can neither make phone calls nor can I send messages. It seems that the handset was defective from the very beginning and this manufacturing defect became obvious on putting the handset to use. Initially, the keys on the handset would work intermittently, however, with passage of time they have become completely non functional.

I had approached Mobile Store with my grievance, however, they advised me to contact the Service Centre at West Patel Nagar, Near Shadipur Metro Station. As advised, I had promptly taken my Handset to the service centre, however, to my utter shock and dismay, they not only refuse to entertain my grievance but also did not replace my handset. On the contrary, they advised me that since it is a new handset, they would not open it and directed me to approach the head office of the Company.

More than two months have gone by and after having bought such an expensive hand set, I have not been able to use it .

Being an Advocate by profession, I have to make numerous calls to my clients and associates. Being in this profession for more than 14 years, with time I have through sheer hardwork and dedication built an extensive practice and client base which depends and relies on me. For me, my mobile is my lifeline and with this defective handset, I am suffering not only financial loss but also mental agony.

You would appreciate that in today’s time a mobile phone is not a luxury but a necessity. The reason for buying this handset was primarily to facilitate my profession and to make use of the additional features such as internet and email facilities, however, it is very baffling to know that Nokia which is one of the leading manufactures of mobile handsets have shown such callous disregard to its customers. Almost two months have gone by and there has been no redressal to my grievance. Not only my work has suffered on account of defective handset but it has also caused a lot of anxiety and apprehension due to such indifferent attitude of your Company.

I have invested my hard earned money in purchasing such an expensive handset and as a customer it is my right to demand value for money. It is very unfortunate that your Company has failed me on both accounts. It seems that a defective handset has been sold to me and to my utter dismay, there is no redressal till date.

Through this letter, I request you to kindly replace my handset with a new one which functions properly and to my satisfaction. Even, otherwise, since I am under the warranty period, I would appreciate that my handset is replaced with a new one at the earliest.

Looking forward to hearing from you in this regard and hoping redressal to my grievance on an urgent basis and within a weeks time.

Nokia — Defects on N71

To whom who may concern:

I am the managing Director of an IT Company based in Pune, India and I have a big complaint to make. The facts: I have bought a nokia N71 from a store" CROMA" in Aundh, Pune and the mobile has shown difect after use of 3 days. I have asked to the shop to exchange the mobile, but the poeple there are not professional so, nothing has been resolved. I still have confusion on their Policy. some of the staff says replacement in 24hr from the purchase, some other says not replacement. Also i came to know that Nokia usually gives 7 days from purchase a replacement if the mobile is defected. I kindly request to gime an help and support on this regard, as I am surpriced that a company like NOKIA, is allowing this kind of distributors to ruin the name and brand which has built up till now. This kind of distributors should be selected based on real proof of dedicated customer service and not just because they have name.

Nokia E-71 handset — Few Keys of Handset does not works

I am using Nokia handset E-71 which I had purchased from K-3, TRADING PVT. LTD G-8, Savitri Market, Sector-18, Noida

I was able to use this handset properly just for 4 month later started facing problems in few Keys of Key pad like -
Back Key,
Call End Key (red button),
Comme Kay (, ),
Dot Key (.) and
Drop down key

My approach to Nokia care

 I approached to Nokia Care center at Vaishali Sec-4, Ghaziabad on 31st May 09, and addressed them the issue. Front desk executive Shalini attended my call and told me that there is a software issue, and need to Format the software and problem will be resolved and did the same. Gave me the job sheet with number-

JOB SHEET NUMBER[protected]/090531/32

At the time of collecting the handset key were working fine but just after few hours same problem happened

 On 04 Jun 09 I again visited same Nokia Care (same store, Vaishali Sec-4, Ghaziabad )and met with same executive Shalini, told her that issue is still persisting. She gave the handset to engineer. After 15 to 20 min they returned my handset and told me that THEY HAVE LOOSEN THE KEYPAD and if still issue persists then they need to send handset to company.
This time no JOB SHEET was provided

Problem was still not resolved (At the time of collecting the handset key were working fine but just after few hours same problem happened)

 I again visit Nokia Care on 07th Jun 09 same store, Vaishali Sec-4, Ghaziabad, this time I had decided to send the handset to company. And gave the handset to same executive Shalini

Same JOB SHEET given to me with number[protected]/090531/32 but with changed date i.e 07th Jun 09
After getting the handset back some 1446 number sticker is pasted on handset

My handset was sent company and after 9 days I received a call from Nokia care that issue is resolved I can get my handset collected. I collected my handset on 17th Jun 09.
This time also keys worked for just few hours and again started creating issue.

Now please tell me where should I approach, I think I have already followed all the procedure but still your hi-tech engineers are unable to resolve the concern.

It has become very difficult now to tolerate this issue, “KINDLY GET THIS HANDSET REPLACED”
