[Resolved]  Club Mahindra Resorts — Poor rooms availability,indiscriminate charges and services

Dear all,

I am holding a Club Mahindra membership since 2004. Initially at time of joining they had given big promises like HASSLE free holidays of 7 days /year for 25 years.

Each member has to pay membership cost + ASF Annual maintainence fees, which grows along with inflation.

The membership cost of white studio is around Rs2.25 lacs. At time of joining and annnual subscription (ASF) is Rs. 4000/- Now its is around Rs.10, 000/-

This is a complete cheating by Club Mahindra.

Non availability of rooms: Earlier members were around 25000 and now in 2009 the members are 90, 000.
So the member have increased by more than 300 %, however the rooms have just increased by 70 %.
This leads to serious non-availability of holidays.

LONAVALA RESORT:--- IN 2004, THEY HAD TOLD LONAVALA RESORT WILL BY READY BY 2006, BUT STILL AFTER 3 YEARS OF THEIR "DEADLINE" THEY HAVENT BUILD THE RESORT.

Increase in ASF fees per year: ASF is calculated based on inflations including food inflation costs.

However the Club Mahindra fees and ASF dont include any kind of lunch, dinner or breakfast, so on what basis they charge this indiscriminately?

Also at time of joining I was told holidays get accumulated, however now I am told holidays can be accumulated at most for 3 years(i.e 21 days), so in case your holidays balance exceeds 21 days, holidays get cancelled.

Cost factor: Cost of white studio :Rs. 2.25 lacs.
ASF for 2009: around Rs.10, 000/
So total cost of 7 days holiday:
Rs.10, 000 + 36, 000/-(Rs 36, 000 for interest @ 8% p.a and proportion of membership fees)
Total: Rs 46, 000 for 7 days holiday (Which doesn't include any other charges except accomodation.
Food, entertainment, sightseeing all is extra)

If you buy the same package through an agent its cheaper for same package in CLUB MAHINDRA RESORT( IN THEIR NON-MEMBER QUOTA !!!)

Now CLUB MAHINDRA resorts also have non-member quota.Why is this indiscrimination done? If CLUB MAHINDRA is building resorts by members money why they are not allocating 100% rooms to members? Why they are selling some additional rooms to nonmembers on premium charges?

So dont get fooled by CLUB MAHINDRA.
I want someone to highlight this facts and initiate action against Club Mahindra.

Club mahindra resorts no faclities, and no transportion
Completely agree with the complaint. The number of resorts is too less & the membership is increasing day by day. On enquiry, well before summer vacation, we were answered that all the bookings at various resorts are FULL except for resort at Kumbhalgarh in Rajasthan.

I totally agree with this . The lapsing of holidays has come as a shock . You will never get rooms when you want it mainly due to low availability and incredibly big list of members . Lonavala has become a dream project, we have been hearing from years now. For Western part of th ecountry this could have been a relief as hardly any resort is there. They need to seriously look into the business model. The fact of grocery shop is another let down . I saw in munnar, the provision store is of hardly any use you have to resort to hotel dining where the discount is of no great attaction . There is no great sops for kids meal as well. Notwithstanding excellentr resorts . The operations ar enot to be appreciated if the trend continues like this.. Its better to live in five star every year with thhis kind of money.
Room availability is a BIG issue at Club Mahindra. I had to book a room in January for a vacation in June. The interactive voice recorded toll free number is always busy... we are forced to write emails after emails.

Demand hugely outnumbers the Supply.

The kind of aggressive marketing that Club Mahindra does with inadequate Delivery capabilities, it raises serious concerns about their business ethics.

The charging of ASF and the membership fee structure is also quite arbitrary. At some resorts they charge rentals for the utencils and vessels used. Then why pay ASF?

Good pictures of beaches, cottages, scenic landscapes and offers of digi-cams, handy-cams, laptops, LCD flat TVS... Is that all about Club Mahindra?????

I agree with all what is written here. In addition to all this and compromising on your preferred dates and destination, if you get booking then you can not cancel it without penalty. One has to loose certain days of holidays if he/she cancel his/her holiday. Emergency don't come to one planned in advance. So if someone has to cancel holiday at last moment because o[censored]nforseen reason or emergency then he/she will loose all days in that year. I think, this is really unfair to customer. This is double lose to customer - one is due to emergency and second is lost of holidays. Club Mahindra as a professional organization should do what is right and must consider this point.
This is totally true. As it is there is discretion by way of colours - white, blue, etc... Even in the white season you never get any booking confirmation; forget in a higher season. And the higher season is usually the vacations - the only time when families can go on holidays. All this is not pointed out when selling the product. You are enticed into doing the purchase when you hear of the great glib talk of your sales persons - but the "Conditions apply" part is never highlighted till the poor customer tries to take a holiday reservation. And nobody bothers to revert when you ask for a refund or try to cancel your membership. Total lack of professionalism in the after sales service. Totally agree that the resort numbers are far less as compared to their enthusiasm in adding targets (poor people like us who get sold on these ideas). The ASF rate gets doubled almost every other year and is never told about first time around. Besides the food, etc are very costly and being far away from any nearby eateries there is no option to spend more money. In the same amount one could comfortably get a 7-star all inclusive treatment at many other hotels. We have only paid paid paid for the past almost 4 years and managed to squeeze in 1 holiday...Congrats to all who have managed more holidays & Best Wishes to who are still trying!!!
I too 100% agree to the fact that the membership of Club Mahindra is absolutely waste of money. The biggest problem is the non availabiltiy of the rooms when you desire to take a holiday. Most of the time inspite of giving the booking advise three months in advance we do not get the resort of our desire. In such case what is the use of having the membership.

Many of the associate hotels of Club Mahindra are no where close to the Club Mahindra standards, which they need to look at seriously.

The most rediculous think happened in recent past. I hold a Red membership ans was denied room in the Blue season. The customer care person said that since you are a red season customer you cannot avail the facility in blue season. I then had to fight out the case with the club

i too have the same experience and similar complaints, we are 4 friends who are facing similar problem. I am informing ally my friends and relatives to stay away from Club Mahindra Membership.

Dear all thanks for writing these reviews which has greatly facilitated me in deciding against taking the membership of Club Mahindra. I was invited to a presentation and told that I would receive a three days two nights offer clubbed with a voucher for Rs 1000/- and two tickets for couple for two new releases in INOX. All that they had to offer has been documented in the preceding paragraphs, but what takes the cake is this:

I told them that I would first like to visit their resort before taking a call. I was then told that the complimentary stay was not in the members only suits. I then to my amazement found that the stay was valid in limited time period and booking had to be done much in advance. The stay was not valid on weekends. The voucher had validity of six months. All the permutation and combinations were inn their favour which is to say that I never got to use the free coupon.

Further they ran out of the movie tickets and the gift vouchers were not available at that time which I was told would be couriered to me.

So u see in the end I received nothing from them and they just had the last laugh.

On the hind sight I am happy that I received nothing as that clears the standing of club Mahindra and I saved some money.
things are true like the food is costly, stay is costly as we pay the anual fees, and also the interest on the amount paid.So the stay if calculated is about 13000/day and more as the amount paid is non refundable
The club should subsidise the cost on food and other items as we are paying more the required, if there were good hotels near the club i am sure members will not eat inside.

Hi I am also a clubmahindra member or It is better to say a victim of clubmhaindra. Whenever i try to book a resort I am being told that there is no availability and worse my days are getting lapsed. By the way my season is RED which is supposed to be the best. This was the worse investment in my whole life. I felt cheated by the Mahindras. I will never buy anything associated with Mahindras. I will completely agree with Sachin and most of the comments made here. Never buy clubmahindra resort membership.

the only reason that i bought into the club mahindra is due to the mahindra name of and the honesty that they have given for the last so many years. but this is coming out a ...so many problems so little time to write...TAKE CARE OF YOUR BRAND IMAGE - AFFECTS ACROSS SECTORS...
I completely agree with most of the complains. At the time of membership we were not warned about the ever increasing AFS. Its high time they rationanize this.

the above complaints are correct. if you are charging ASF for each year then why not let us accumulate our days more than 21 why are you cancelling our extra days. either charge ASF or Cancel our extra days . but as we are members you should not cancel extra days Let us accumulate any No of days we want, what difference does it make to the club. keep up the name Mahindra please. atleast provide free pickup drop facility. reduce ASF.
I fully agree. I do not encourage people for membershipin club mahindra. It is a sort corporate big loot. I have been trying to book a holiday for the last one year but without success ( except of for Lonavala which I got by fluke.)

Give me holiday booked in Mahabaleshwar I will salute CM.

Club Mahindra is taking people for ride, as per their stats they have 161, 000 members 44 resorts this includes their international resorts and 2480 rooms from all the 44 resorts as per their last year stats if I am right. So that means that nearly 65 members should fight out for one room to get a reservation which is on first come first serve basis, so if you are from south of India and you want to take a holiday in south region then the tally will automatically increase to more than 100+ to fight for 1 room within the same region.
CM has made a profit of more than 100Cr in 2013 and what percentage is spent on increasing the number of rooms or adding additional resorts at the same location is not clear, more over I would like to know if the ASF charges are standard for all member my 2013 ASF due was 10228.00/- please members confirm if it is the same amount paid by you.
They build/buy resorts from Membership money but if you want to take a holiday and if you are from White or Red season you need to book it at lease 3-4 months before if not you can say bye bye to your holiday, but call the resort and say you are a non member they will say they have a room but of course you need to pay a higher price, so they make a killing by selling members room to non members at higher price and will say the room is booked, there is no way to check how many members are actually enjoying their holidays, most o[censored]s think that we were late to book the holiday but is true that we were late ? Or was your holiday sold to a non member how do you check this.
There is no transparency to verify all this it will be better if CM get their act together and start proper customer relation of not very soon they will be facing PIL or a court case to actually verify how many members took holiday and how many non members took holiday in the CM resorts.

So people watch out before you plan to take a Club Mahindra Membership
