I am Central Government Staff in Ministry of Corporate Affairs, presently working with the Office of the Official Liquidator, High Court, Madras. I have bought a Maruti 800 Car bearing No.TN 07 R 2182 through the True Value division of M/s Popular Automobiles, Saligramam, Chennai for an amount of Rs.1, 45, 000/- during November, 2007. At the time of purchase, the said agency assured that on payment of the full sale consideration, the car will be delivered in good condition. The tyres, which were already in a bad condition was changed by me & the other matters to make the car in good condition was under taken by the said Popular Automobiles. On payment of full sale consideration of Rs.1, 45, 000/- the car was delivered to me by the true value division of Popular Automobiles with the assurance that the same is in good condition.

Later on when I have approached the Tyre dealers (recommended by Popular Automobiles) they have informed me that there are cracks under the car, which requires repair immediately. Accordingly I have approached Popular Automobiles and they have repaired the said cracks in their body shop and returned the car in a weeks time. This incident proved negligence on their part to deliver a car assuring the same to be in good condition, where as the same was in a bad condition.

At the time of purchase of the said car they have assured three free services within a year from the date of purchase. As the car was used by me very sparingly, I have done only two service in one year and though I have requested with them, they refused to do another service. They have done the 1st & last service but not the second service. On both the times, I have complained about the over heat of the engine as showed by the meter. On both the times the persons who attended the vehicle told me that there is absolutely no problem with the engine heat.


During the first week of February, while driving the car I notices that the meter showing the engine heat was showing the heat on the higher side & I approached Popular Automobiles with the said complaint. The Complaint was attended by one Mr Rahul, Service Advisor, who after examining the vehicle told me that the Radiator is to be changed for which the approximate cost is Rs.2, 300/- for which I have agreed. He said as the radiator is to be changed it is better if the engine is cleaned & decarbonised for which the cost will be around Rs.1, 800/-. I have agreed for that work also, thinking that altogether it may not exceed Rs.5, 000/-.


Popular Automobiles took four days time to do the above said work, and to my surprise, on the date of delivery, they have informed me to pay an amount of Rs.10, 110/-. When asked for the details they said that I have already agreed orally for the above said amount. Immediately, I contacted Mr Rahul, the Service Advisor & he said he is on the way to his native place and the bill amount will come to the amount informed to me by Popular Automobiles. This is a clear evidence that M/s Popular Automobiles is in the habit of misleading the parties about the approximate expenses to be incurred by them for service. In this case also I was expecting the amount of service bill to be around Rs.5, 000/- approximately, where as I was forced to pay Rs.10, 110/- at the time of delivery of the vehicle. Immediately I thought of sending a mail to you regarding this. But later on I have changed my mind & decided to ascertain the service expenses specifically from the above said agency before giving the vehicle for service.

After the above said service the very next day, when I was travelling a short distance with my family, all the persons who were in the car felt about a sound coming from the front left side of the vehicle. As we have noticed the same, I immediately brought the car back to my residence & informed Mr.Rahul, Popular Automobiles, who in turn said that may not be a big problem. He also informed that they have cleaned the shock absorbers so that there is chance of hearing the sound if the shock absorber on the front left side is not properly seated. I have not driven the vehicle after the said conversation & as I was not in station, I contacted Mr Rahul again on 07.03.2009 for rectification of the above said complaint. This time also Mr Rahul told me that he is in his native place & to contact one Mr Roshan at Popular Automobiles.

I drove the cat to Popular Automobiles, Saaligramam, which is 5 kilometres away from my residence. Shri Santhoshkumar, a friend of mine who is residing at Quarter No.16/4, CPWD Quarters & working with Central Intelligence Bureau, Chennai accompanied me in my car. After a distance of 3 kilometres, the sound emitting from the front left portion gradually started increasing and at one point of time, I was unable to drive the vehicle. I thought of stopping the vehicle and in the meanwhile the tyre on the front left side got itself free which resulted abrupt stop of the car with sound of drum screeching on the road. My left knee struck beneath the steering portion and developed a small bulge whereas Mr Santhoshkumar fell unconscious for 10 minutes. Both o[censored]s were lucky enough to be alive and the fact is that the negligence on the part of the staff working in Popular Automobiles, Service division in tightly securing the Tyre, thereby ensuring the safety of passengers cannot be ignored. With the help of a nearby workshop men, the tyre was fitted back to its position and I along with Mr Santhoshkumar returned to our came back to our residence.

I am bringing the above said facts to your knowledge with a request to initiate an enquiry into the matter & take suitable steps so that this kind of incidents will not occur neither to me nor to any parties who approach Popular Automobiles hereinafter. In this connection, I wish to bring to your attention that the filing of a complaint by me against Popular Automobiles in this matter before the Consumer Court, Chennai is also in progress.

popular automobiles — not attending to my car

my new wagon r TNOI AF 2530 bought from popular automobiles chennai during april 2008 has been handed over to the said dealer on29.7.2008 for jerking problem in petrol drive for which the reason conveyed is ECM failure due to rat bite and the charges work to Rs. 18000. I request you to kindly look into this issue because i dont understand how rats are not able to enter the cars such as hyundai, indica which are parked next to my car.I have a feeling that it is a manufacturing problem. I request you to replace the defective part through warranty or insurance at the earliest as i am put to lot of hardship without my vehicle.
Thanks for information, your experience tell us to avoid purchase used cars in future.
Well, I also have a similar issue with the popular thalassery, kannur kerala.
They treat you with all honey and milk when you go to them to buy a vehicle.
Dont wonder when the same staff turn a deaf ear and blind eye to you once you start driving the car from them- it's is none of our business attitude.

i am one of your customer who owns a maruthi ritz.
few days back unfortunately i met with an accident and i complained to police as well as i was approved for insurance
we took the vehicle to popular service centre in kannur,

its very sad to inform you that the repairing process took soo much long time delay and also in my case even the paint you applied was not exactly matching the previous one.infact its like both sides of my car got different colors and the same is visible to anyone who see my car


i would like to let you know one more fact taht the parts that got damaged are 2 doors (right side), front/back bumber and tyre and the parts that are attached with tyre

just for these items to get repaired it took a delay of 16 days and i got the car repaired and still i am faicing few complaints when driving the car like car auto turing right side

mean while when ever i contacted the service center they gave us a response like the delay is due to delay of geting spare parts from maruthi center
infact whenever i tried to call maruthi regional office cochin, they gave us a feed back like the spare pars will be sent to the service centre within 1 week time and wont get delayed

also we experienced unsatisfied response from the service centre authorities.
they say something and they did somethn
the parts they confirm they replaced are seen to be not changed

in total its like a sort of doing someting to shut the customer voice

a totally unsatisfied customer service we experienced from popular service centre, kannur

i hope ypou can clearly understand the feeling we are trying to express through these lines
regarding the paint differencec, they promised that they are gonna replace the paint agin with the perfect original color.but i need to keep my car again in servise centre for another 3-4 days time and i am a person who canot do my business without my car.

but we ask you why such a drama, things should be done perfectly in time and good way, which can convince the customer .infact if things are done for name sake, definitly its gonna give you a very bad feedback from cuatomer side which is gonna lead to untrustworthy .untrust worthy defnitly gonna change the trust myself and the ppl surrounding me to take away the trust we kept on your organisation.

hereby we show our heartful complaint aganist the popular service centre kannur,
Kindly show the customers a better face and better response.Understand the fact that for any company, the asset is their customers.

Popular Vehicles and Automobiles service is
very poor. I have a very bad experience with them
in Kochi Vytilla Workshop where my car was
usually given for service/repairs. If you give the
car for one problem, after some time, the car
develops a number of complaints and problems
and the repair bills comes to thousands of
rupees. I came to know from my friends in
Bangalore that the Popular service is the worst.
In regard to my maruti 800 car, I am now in
correspondence with the Popular Vehicles and Services here in Kochi, but these people never respond to e mails. This is an eye opener to all the maruti owners. K Unnikrishnan, Kochi
Stealing car parts from your car- popular chennai
ohh Popular forget about going there. I was a great customer and bought swift. When I left my car for repair in the body shop (after a minor accident) I have found my speaker systems were stolen.Luckily we havent left the premises so they stole the speakers from some one else system and replaced it in my car. Asked them what the 5uck is going on. Sir we will fix you in your service visit. I will provide you a new speakers and give you nice offer.
They crash my bonet in front of my eyes and claim that it was done previously.

With the broken heart being a fool I left my car there for the second time. Guess what, they claimed huge amount of money to the insurance and fixed some of the old parts that was on my third visit.

First visit: Car was water washed and the only outer part was fixed. Inner lining wasnt there. shocking the water will spill directly into the bonet and electrical systems. Manager says : "Sir car is fully ready".

Gave warning went for the second time after two days.

Second visit: I have found they have pasted the same old parts still and the part was claimed in the insurance?? Whats goning Onnnnnnnnnn?/????

Spoken to ther area manager and agreed to be fully ready next time.

Third visit: This time I opened my bonet inside to see if everthing alright, GUys please note this down. They tore my cars inner sponge sheet ( Black one) and fixed the bonet and repainted it. It will take only two minutes to carefully remove the buttons and remove it rather than tearing.

What a beautiful and dexterous work done. Besides me there was another customer screaming to the core as he left his car for just a glass replace. Found the car inner doors products were completely replaced with another model. Their car interior use to have the finger click lock system now completely different.
Besides his car seats were torn.

He left his car for just a glass replaced. This car was there as a second car for those one month they stole and replace the parts from his car to the others and charged the money.

BEWARE POPULAR IS STEALING YOUR CAR PARTS AND SELLING OUTSIDE. BESIDES GETTING THE MONEY FROM INSURANCE TOO.

I am even ready to face this a** holes in court as I have collected the enough evidence.

Last but not least. Through a friend from another company I came to know that these guys will change the unhappy customers phone numbers to one of their own manager numbers. Once they received a call from direct Maruthi they will simply boast on their own and after two days change the number back.
