[Resolved]  S. P. HOSPITALS ADAMBAKKAM, CHENNAI — Disrespect to the patients

Address:Chennai, Tamil Nadu

Hello,

I called up S. P. HOSPITAL, ADAMBAKKAM, CHENNAI to fix an appointment for my regular check up. When I called up the reception she ran through a contact number to fix the appointment in which the contact number was not heard properly as it was told faster and disconnected the call immediately. I again called up the same number to get the contact number properly. But the RECEPTIONIST was very angry and started shouting at me and again ran through the number in the same improper manner wantedly and disconnected the call again. I again repeated the call by which she got more anger and was shouting at me atleast for 3 mins over phone and then she gave the number to fix appointment.

Is this how a receptionist in a well know hospital of the locality behaves?
Is management not looking on these issues?
Has management given rights to their staffs to harass the patients?
If they are not ready to help just for a consulting appointment how will they act in emergency situation?

BUT I KNOW THESE COMPLAINTS WILL NOT IN ANY WAY AFFECT THEIR MEDICAL "BUSINESS". I JUST WANTED TO MAKE AWARE FEW PEOPLE WHO READS THIS AND PEOPLE SHOULD IMPLY THEIR "RIGHT TO INFORMATION".

Hi All

I would request all who read this blog to post as much as issues you experienced with this hospital as it helps me to collate them and raise it with the management. please kindly help me out with this .

I can explain why i need this as i am associated with this Hospital for 20 years now.

When i spoke to one of the Admin in charge he asked me to collate all experience and give it in writing.
Born at s.p hospital, so obviously dr.sudhakar is our family doctor .Nothing to comment about the hospital but i need to mention about the poor service offered by the staffs at the reception, I guess they should learn some ethics to treat patients .Whenever you need an info they would be so harsh in their reply .Till date there isn't any change they r just the same. My last visit was 5 months back, fixed a check up with the gynaecologist & obstetrician. Hope they better themselves in future .
The worst hospital for pregnancy case. If you want a normal delivery, 90% it won;t happen in this hospital.
Doctor comes at certain timing and even the delivery pain comes, they will keep the pain to hold by injection or inducing sleep.
This is a worst trend happening and my wife is part of this story now !!
50K is the minimum target by the hospital and they easily charge this.. + they will ask to buy medicines when ever needed.

End of the day, Normal delivery is possible, if delivery pain comes when the Doctor is in duty.

Even in cashless facility, they are asking advance payment of 40000 Rs (in which already 20000 Rs is paid).. What is the point of Cashless facility? and Mediassist is doing?

Does the SP Hospital can share the number of cases they have undergone on normal vs cecerian case? Its all money !! and Doctors not available 24x7 and they hold the normal delivery and make it C Case.
Hi Seba,

I'm sorry for your unpleasant experience. SP hospital does listen to patient feedback and they have introduced IVR based appointment system where you can make your appointments yourself.

Currently, this has been introduced only for Dr.Lavangi Sudhakar, but soon it will be added for all senior doctors. Hope you will have no issues with appointments.

From my experience I would not recommend SP hospital for delivery .. I was admitted saying that my uterus mouth has opened when I came for my regular check up... But even after 4 to 5 hrs of admission I did not get any pain nor my amniotic sac broke. But My doctor broke the sac with her hands and said I will get the labour pain in another 2 hrs. But after sometime she said that the baby is pushing on the wrong direction and also amniotic fluid is all drained and c section is required to avoid suffocation of baby .. And we had no other choice but to go for c section.. My sugar and pressure was normal... May be if we waited for some more time/days and did not break the amniotic sac I would have had a normal delivery. Regular check ups were very good which made me travel all the way from tondiarpet to Adambakkam with hope and trust but I was disappointed ..
A hospital is not called a good hospital just because there is an efficient doctor. I request the management to keep a CCTV camera at the reception and record the attitude of the receptionists towards the patients and their attenders. And do something to improve your reputation. There is no dearth of hospitals that one will accept whatever is the attitude of the receptionists. You will lose your "business" because of your arrogant staff.
To get an appointment with the doctor, one has to call at 6 am. At 6:01 am, the token number is around 14 or 17 and in half an hour's time there are no more tokens issued. Since the patient was asked to see the doctor and couldnt obtain an appointment over phone, the patient in her full term came to the hospital and requested the receptionist to issue a token so that if possible she could see the doctor at the said time. But she was made to wait for 30 min standing in the queue completely ignored, and the receptionist didnt even check with the doctor whether she could issue a token. Very arrogant staff there. It is easy for the patients to migrate to another hospital. No hospital is indispensable. Ensure that your staff are kind towards patients. What more do we expect from a hospital staff...
