seagate harddisk — hard disk not detected. warranty not issued

i had brought 1TB seagate freeAgent GoFlex Harddisk for rs. 5500 two months back, with warranty.
now it does not get detected in any computer. since it is under warranty period i went to seagate
authorised centre, they said that the bar code is not clear ( it was slightly erased) hence no warranty.

the printing of the barcode itself is such that it gets erased soon. the P/N and S/N is still readable.
we want replacement since some shops say that it is difficult to repair it.

buying another harddisk is also a burden since it is now rs. 7000.
consider giving warranty. i have the proof of bill.
