[Resolved]  Sony Ericsson / W580i — Refurbished spares from service centre

Dear sir,

I want to bring to your notice that Sony authorized service center or certified service in Bangalore is involved in cheating customers.

I had purchased a Sony Ericsson W580i mobile phone in Sangeetha, R T Nagar, Bangalore, in October 2007 (IMEI No-[protected]) .The phone was very well functioning for 10 months later started developing problems mainly it used to hang during receiving a call( i.e in between the call) no buttons used to work. I had to open the phone and replace the battery and restart the phone. This used to happen regularly. Later one fine day, it hung up when I replaced the battery and restarted it, it did not start, it just vibrated as usual during restarting and screen went completely blank in November 2008.

When I contacted and gave it for service in certified service center INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS AND SERVICES, Ganganagar, Bangalore-560032, they said the problem may be just a virus. Next day they said it is due to software problem and need to reinstall the software and call me after it is ready. Three days after no response from when I approached them they said that the problem is due to liquid damage and the motherboard is damaged due to corrosion (Even though no Liquid had entered I had to accept it). As the warranty had expired by then, they said the cost of mother board would be approximately Rs 5, 000.00 and hence would not serve the purpose as new mobile of same make is around Rs 9, 000.00. Alternatively they said to get it replaced with Seconds/refabricated motherboard in market. As I was not sure about the quality they said another option of replacing by themselves with company’s discount offer. which may take some time

15 days later they called me to collect the phone, when I went to collect they tried to start the phone, it did not start. They said the phone has some charging problem and would rectify it and give the next day. Two days later they said that it was not functioning and they did send the phone to company for service i.e they said they have sent the mother board to the company and get a replacement of other mother board at 50 % discount as buy back replacement Offer from them. And cost of repair would be Rs 3, 500.00 + service charge extra. I said I did not want to get it repaired as the cost was more, then they started to discuss among themselves and said they will get it done it at Rs 3, 000 + Rs 150 service charge.

After 10 days it was not ready yet, then when again I insisted they asked to come after 3 days.
Again when I approached on[protected] they said they have received the mother board from the company same day itself and asked to wait for 1 hour. I waited they finally gave me the mobile. They billed a consolidate amount of Rs 3, 200.00 (without individual break up charges for the motherboard and service charges. and carried a warranty period of 1 month. But they offered to give a warranty period of 3 months from their side. (Bill no 342, job no –2047, New IMEI no-[protected], RF board replacement –Rs3, 200.00)

There was sticker with IMEI no of old mother board on the board, when asked he was tensed and was taken back and said new board donot come with the sticker hence they had sticked the old one and he went to remove it, but I resisted.

As I had doubt about the persons as they would give silly reasons, change their words and even tell different cost for repair though every service center do have a standard tariff charges for spares all over India and Sticker with old IMEI no on the board, I contacted other center at Malleshwaram, Bangalore and explained about the problems in the phone.

They informed me that -
1) the problem of hanging and going blank is just soft ware problem and not of the mother board,
2) There is no such offer from the company (50 % discount as buy back replacement Offer from the company)

I now know that I have been taken for a ride,
1) They have replaced the Seconds/ refabricated mother board and pocked the money or brand new mother board

2) To wood wink my eyes they have pasted the sticker with old IMEI no. though the board has New IMEI no and the sticker would serve no purpose

3) That is the reason they used to say different cost of mother board at discounted rates (50 % discount as buy back replacement Offer from the company) as I was not interested in getting it repaired at Rs 5, 000.00

4) that is the reason they used to postpone as they needed to get Seconds/ refabricated mother board

5) During Billing when receptionist asked them to give details of the board to enter in the bill, they deferred and said they will give it later and asked her to just enter the new IMEI no.

6) Though there is standard fixed charges for spares by the company of approximately Rs 5, 000.00 for the Mother board all over India, they played a game of offer with 50% cost on buy back replacement Offer from the company

7) Now again the problem repeated, i.e it hangs again during receiving a call. But rarely which occurred twice in this month. Now I understand it is the same problem and even after changing the Board the problem has recurred indicating that Problem is not in Board but of Software

I am writing it to you so I do get valid reasons for the delay and look into the cheating by the staff. Do look into when they have sent the motherboard to the company and received the replacement if at all they have sent or if they are faking.
With no response I would be left with no options to approach Consumer Court for cheating me

Sony E W580i — Selling 2nd Hand Mobiles

I purchased a mobile from Subhiksha on Saturday[protected]. The model is Sony Erricson W580i. The outlet was Kothrud, Nal Stop, Pune. I have a proper receipt of the same.

But the next day when I inserted a new SIM into the cell, I found that the cell was already used by someone. There was lots of contact Nos stored into it. Well there are many ways to prove that it is used. Then I called into that outlet for the issue but they said its impossible. They didn't tell me what could be done in such cases.

With reference to the above mentioned subject and reference, I would like to know within how many days it is expected to receive my hand set which is lying with the service center located at Mulund (West) named as "PROTOCOL - LINKS" which was given on 24th April 2008 which was mentioned in my earleir complaint erroneously (March) typo error and my sincere apology for the same.

Kindly note that this handset is facing a lot of problems while turning on it on and off, at times I could not hear the conversation made by opposite person etc, and this is second time that I have faced such kind of problem within 6 months, it has hardly been around 8 to 9 months that I have purchased this hand set Model No - W580i and twice I had to give it to the service center for one or other problem and after one month for each time given handset at service center, I get my handset back, so within 8-9 months I must have hardly use my phone due to such kind of problems arising. I had also faced lot of trouble in communication due to non availability of my phone which had affected my professional business.

I would appreciate if the said query is solved at your early convenience and provide with satisfactory results, as I am not satisfied with the said handset, I would genuinely request and have thorough check of my handset and do the needful at your best, even if required to be replaced in timely manner.

W580i — Display & restart

I had purchased my Sony Ericsson handset in Oct 2007. When there was trouble with the display, it was temporarily rectified. Again the cell phone conked off. I submitted my cell to Service Station at Thane on 12/6/08. WO # SE08-E[protected]. Till date the cell is with them and I am told to wait for another couple of days.
How long am I to wait for it ?????????????

W580i — freequent software problem

I have purchased the phone w580i on 25/10/2008. Since that time iam facing the continuous problem with your phone .On 16.12.2008 I have submitted the phone in your survicing center because of the software problem .Ater that the phone had continuous call conecting problem .on 06/01/2008 the machine found in a dead position and i have given the phone in your servicing center.Few days after the survice, the machine found with the same problem.With the tottal disatisfaction iam saying the fact that because of the continuouse problems i have given the phone more than 15 times in your survicing center .Finaly on today (18/05/2009) i have submitted the phone because of charging problem.In this competitive scenario this is truely an inconvenionce with the customer.So i request yours people to initiate the procedure to get the replacement of the phone

Sony Ericsson W580i — cheated by company

i purchased sony ericsson w810i on 21 march 2008 and after 6 month the cell was dead.I complaint that in accel infotech, indore i.e service center for sony..after 1 month they gave me w580i, replacing my w810i, and they assured me that this is a new piece.they didn't provide me with any extra warranty and accesory with the phone.
After 6 month the display of the phone is gone and the port for charger is also not working.When i complaint in service center they are not covering warranty.
this only mean 1 thing company is making consumer fool by providing them old piece and just want to skip themselves from their warranty.
Plz guide me wat to do now...

I have had the exact same problems with the phone. I ordered a new OEM screen off Amazon and it works just fine. Then the new screen started to cut to black, lit. I figured out, where the components heat on the screen, wore a hole in the wire protecting inside the phone. I just put a piece of tape over it. The charging problem is a bit less annoying now. I bought a new charger and cleaned the metal components. During charging though it still has a pop up window every second or so randomly saying "Optimized Charging".
I have had the phone for five months.
Screw Technical help I know more than those do anyways.

Sony Ericsson W580i — voice problem

Myself Deepak kumar sharma. i bought w580i in april 2008. my problem is that when i talk the voice comes too slow. i have to on the speaker to talk. i also used (+, -) key to increase the volume of voice but it still too slow. pls hel me.

sony ericsson/ W580i — not repaired the phone but taken money

i had given my cell at service center it has some heating problem so i had given it for repair on authorized service center in pune at shivajinagar they had taken rs 1400 and returend my cell without repair so take some legal action against them.

sir i bought my phone in feb6 for 9500rs, within one month speaker had problem, then they did the service and gave back, after three months keypad was not working, then i gave to repia in sony authorised dealer in chaitanyapuri, then he said to come in 5 days after 5 days i went and checked the phone then they spoiled the memory card slot and said that they are not responsible for that and took 15 days to repair after that wen i went and checked the inner speaker was not working, then i took from them and gave it to secbad sony service ., then he said to come in 3 days after going to him he said to come in twodays wen ireached there he said that your joystick in repair and it might take sometime.its from a month i have no phone and was circling around these service center s leaving my job...
