[Resolved]  Southern Railways — Reservation of berth

I am a senior citizen. On 02 Aug 09 at 10 AM I went to book a berth for me from Yeswantpur to Kochuveli by Train # 2257 leaving on 25 Aug 09. I had seen that the train had more than 900 vacant berths in 3 AC - this means at least 200 regular lower berths. But I was allotted a side lower berth saying that I have to take whatever the system allots. Actually for a senior citizen the system is supposed to automatically allot a regular lower berth. This happened correctly for my travel on 21 Aug from Trivandrum to Chennai.

The superintendent of reservations also could not make out why this was happening - he accepted that 900 berths are still available. H8e blamed the software. Do they have a different reservation software for different trains.

I searched all sites for an emailid of any responsible person in Southern Railway. I could find none.

I have travelled in birth/sleeper from Mysore to Bangalore on train no. 6732/Tuticorn express vide PNR no. [protected] and Transaction ID [protected] On 13th Decr.2009 in S7 compartment.. The reservation list has not been notified on the coach. For this reason whole my and families journey ended in quarell with the public till Ramanagara. The entire coach is full of rush of passengers who have not reserved seats. From Mysore to Bangalore No tickect chequer did not appear on the whole train. the reason not known. I have concluded not to travel in birth/sleeper infuture in view of the instance occured with this journey. I had one doubt why there will be no ticket chequer ? I feel there may be some adjustment of the staff of Railway to loot the income of railway? In the birth top seat filled with three people on each side by putting leg from this seat to that of opposite seats till the end of journey. such instances could have been avoided if of the ticket chequer visited the compartment. and ticketless travellers could have been identified. In Bangalore there is no check point to check tickets of passengers who are going out of Railway station. Here also the travellers without ticket could have been identified. Not done so why? The concerned after due verification will give satisfactory reply to e-mail. So that the general public will realise why and what reason such a lapse occured.
