[Resolved]  Standard Chartered Credit Card — Blacklisting of a customer by Standard Chartered inspite of Promise

Harassing a normal customer by Standard Chartered
Currently I am having a very horrible experience with the Standard Chartered bank staff. I had taken a credit card from this bank in the year 2000. I had settled the outstanding amount of 51000 and the executive who came to collect the cheque and the executive from the collection dept said my account will be settled I had confirmed this by calling the Bank executive and he said this account will be settled. and My name will also not appear in the credit card black list. On 29May2008 i find my name in defaulter account listed in the Satyam's black list when i called up Standard Chartered bank the bank claims that I need to pay the Bank 23, 585 rupees as balance and then my name will be removed from blacklist in the Credit Bureau. My point is that why was not there a communication since 2 1/2 years regarding this outstanding amount. I have not received any e- mail or any statement or not even a telephone call stating that there is something outstanding on my card. When I spoke to the executive Leena Lodhe; she tells the bank had given this entire information to Satyam's Credit services later when Satyam had asked for the defaulters listing. But during the settlement the Bank executive had specifically said that the name would be appearing in the blacklist; also neither the documents specify that bank can load us in blacklist acounts. Leena is asking me to show any settlement document handover by SCB. As a normal customer how will I know these procedures. I have not changed my address or the telephone number and if they say a statement was sent to my address I would like to know the docket numbers of the courier. They are asking me to pay 23585 as outstading amount from 2 and half years. I would like to take this up with RBI Ombudsman and sue Standard chartered for harassing the customer; using this blacklist as an cartel to get the money from Customer. This is cheating the customers in a broad daylight. I need help in sorting this out I do not wish to pay for some one else's mistake. Please help

Hi,
I'm in almost same situation like you. For me I cancelled the standard chartard card around 3 years back. I cleared all my dues. They later on charged annual fees which I declined to pay and ask them to cancel the card over phone only. They now put my name in defaulter list. All because of the annual charge. They want to settle down in 5000 Rs but I didn't want. Please let me know how you are going to complain against them?

Hi Mahesh, I too find myself in the same situation you are in. I had settled my SCB Credit card in 2004. The collection executive gave me a full & final receipt for the same & was told that my name will not reflect in the defaulters list. Now I find that my name is appearing in the CIBIL defaulter's list. When I called SCB collection dept, even though I have faxed across the receipt, thay have failed to acknowledge it. They say my account is not settled in their system & I would have to re-settle the account. Still my name will not be removed from the Defaulter's list. Pls let me know how you plan to take action against SCB.
Hi,

I have an active Standard Chartered Credit Card. In the month of June 08 I received the statement thru email for which I had issued the cheque dated 10/06/08 for the full amount of Rs. 2473.12 & to my surprise when I received July months statement it shows I have been charged late charges when the payment due date was 24/06/08. When I have chequed my bank statement the cheque has been debited on 26/06/08 so that means because of banks negligence why the customer should bear the late charges it has to be debited from the account of the concerned employee who has delayed to deposite the cheque.

Standard Chartered Bank — Annual Fee on CC

SCB made my card free from annual fee when I said I want to cancel card, because others banks are issuing CC no annual fee. One person from call center said now the card is free, no annual fees henceforth. After one year again they charged me annual fee, after discussing with person from call center, the transaction was reverted.

It's very clear that bank want to make money out of this. Many mistakes in the statement, unnecessary charges, late payment charges, etc.

I am planning to cancel the card.

Standard Chartered Bank — annual fee every year- against promise

Customer card number Master Executive [protected].

This has been the practice of SCB to torture the miserable customer every once a year by adding the annual fee of Rs. 500/- + tax and so on. Without even verifying that mine is life-time-free-annual fee.
I find this is total waste of time and energy to argue with you and set it right by reversal ling it . Kindly find out a permanent solution that next time you wont trouble me. Dont give this kind of shocks in installments as I'm already heart patient underwent a by-pass just three weeks ago.
Expecting your immediate action and extended support towards this.

CREDIT CARD ISSUED BY THE STANDARD CHARTERED BANK — IRREGULARITY IN SENDING MONTHLY STATEMENTS

I am holding the Gold Credit Card of the Standard Chartered Bank, Chennai for the last 14 years. I am sorry to say that as for as service is concerned, the Bank's response is very poor. First of all, the Bank never send the monthly statements to its customers in time. Every time, I have to remind them. By contacting them over phone is next to impossible. They ask so many queries, by the time, the line gets disconnected. They never respond to the emails.

My statement date is 11th of every month and I am supposed to get the same by at least 13th of every month. They deliberately send the statement by ordinary post, so that the customer cannot question the credibility of the Bank, whether it was posted or not. I have never received the statement before 15th and for instance, for this month I am yet to receive the same. That is why I made arrangement to receive the statement by email, which is also yet to be received by me. This is the state of affairs going on in the Bank.

I feel that the deliberate delay in sending the statement is to enable them to charge extra interest for the additional period. Because many people send the payment immediately on receipt of the statement. NOW I AM THINKING OF SURRENDERING THE CARD, AS I HAD LOST A HEAVY AMOUNT DUE TO THEIR DELAY IN SENDING THE STATEMENT EVERY TIME.

It is important to understand that when you take money from the bank you are left at their mercy. Hence, you calling customer care or posting the issue is not going to help you at all because all you will get at the end of the day is a generic mail apologizing for the inconvenience they have cause you along with a promise to have the issue sorted out which as you know needless to say will take ages. A suggestion I can offer is call customer Service and find out your outstanding amount a make a payment immediately why wait for the statement later on if there is a false charge it can be disputed at your leisure rather than you paying late charges every month. If you would like more information or advise with regards to to the same i can be contacted on[protected] or emailed at [protected]@debtdoctorindia.com

Timothy
