[Resolved]  United World School Of Business — NON REFUND OF INITIAL PAID AMOUNT OF RS.35000

Address:Warangal, Andhra Pradesh

I wanted to admit my son prateek agarwal in united world school of business, this year, for their two year pgpm program. I paid rs. 35000/- Towards initial advance payment for the same. My decision was supposed to be based on the information provided on their website & prospectus. There was no reason for me not to believe the contents of the same. But,within a short time I discovered from various sources (incl. Last year's students studying there) that there are lots of variations in what uwsb promise & deliver. Also,I found that their campus & the offered pgpm program do not carry the approval of govt. Of india’s statutory body aicte. Under the circumstances, to safeguard the future of my son, I made the decision to not to admit my son in their campus. I requested them to refund me at the earliest, rs.35000/- Paid by me. I sent them several mails & also regd./Post communication which they have conveniently put on burner as they have not responded officially. Though I received a threatening phone call from a person called joyjit who is the business dev. Officer of the organization. He said that they will not pay me back & I will have to spend lot of money to fight legal battle with them. He said that they will spend any amount of money on legal battle but will not pay back my money.
AICTE - Govt. body to regulate education is very clear on this type of issues & have issued notice in the past that Fees should be refunded to students if they want to withdraw their admission before the course begins. All that an institution can retain by way of processing fees is a maximum of Rs. 1,000.
Even if a student leaves after the start of the academic year, the institution will have to return the fees after making proportionate deductions towards monthly tuition fees and hostel rent where applicable.

I can forward the copies of all my communication with uwsb. I am getting ready to take the matter to consumer forum, aicte & punjab technical university (of which uwsb gives mba degree).

I request help on this from intellectuals, media, legal & consumer forums etc. My email ID is - [protected]@rediff.Com & ph -[protected].
Thanks & regards.
