[Resolved]  Unknown — Miss Call from +92 country code (Pakistan) with a fraudulent promise of winning a lottery of INR 25,00,000

Address:West Bengal

Dear Person-in-Charge,

I received a miss call from the number [protected]. As you can see the country code +92 is of Pakistan. When I called back to this number I was promised an amount of INR 25,00,000 in lottery winning. The person talking on the phone claimed he was talking on behalf of the Airtel HQ from Bandra, Mumbai and went to tell me the procedure for acquiring the same. On confronting the caller regarding country code being of Pakistan and my suspicion of this being a fraud call and that I will proceed with a complain to the police, the caller started to threaten me in loud voice. Before he could say much I ended the call. But this is a matter of grave concern. I am afraid for my life as this could be a terrorist front and now they could try to assassinate me as they would think I might destroy their ploy by calling the police.

But irrespective of my concerns for personal safety, this is established that this is definitively a fraud call with complete intent of systematically defrauding me in some or the other manner. I believe that is illegal under Indian Penal Code. On researching the internet I found various links that complained about similar miss calls from numbers originating in Pakistan.

Sir, Please look into it, as soon as possible.
