Dear Sir, I am a regular customer of Voltas and I have got four Voltas ACs at my house. I am sorry to bring it to your notice that I purchased one Voltas Window 1.5 ton AC model 182CY from Kohli Bros. Karol Bagh, New Delhi vide Bill No. 1901 dated 19.6.14.
I purchased another Voltas AC Window 1.5 ton model 182DY from RK Vision, Khanna Market, Lodi Road, New Delhi vide Bill No. 2148 on 20.6.14.
After purchasing the first AC on 19.6.14, I callled customer care and requested for installation of the AC and I was given complaint no. [protected] dated 19.6.14 and was told that I will have to pay a sum of Rs.500/- for installation. I again called customer care on 20.6.14 enquiring about installation and was told that we require at least 24 hours to respond. After 24 hours when I called they said 24 hours means working hours. I was surprised to hear the definition of 24 hours. When I called after 24 working hours I was given the landline telephone no.[protected] of the agency who instal the ACs on behalf of Voltas and I kept on trying that number continuously but that number can never be contacted. When I spoke to senior Executive on Sunday I was told that he will pass on my message on the mobile number of the agency and request them to instal the AC but on sunday they don't work.
In the meantime I also made a request for installation of the another AC purchased by me on 20.6.14 and I was given the complaint no. [protected] dated 21.6.14. On Sunday evening I received a call from mobile no. [protected] with reference to my first complaint of installation that they will come on Monday evening and I will have to pay a sum of Rs.700/- for installation when I told him that customer care has informed me that I am to pay Rs.500/- for installation he said that it cannot be installed with Rs.500/-. Since I was very much disturbed I agreed to pay Rs.700/- subject to a proper bill of the amount. I was told bill is never given of this amount. I again contacted customer care and I was told that grill for fixing of the AC might have to be cut hence he is demanding Rs.700/- for installation, when I querried that without visiting the house how can he come to know that grill is to be cut, the executive of customer care was speechless. Thereafter, I contacted the dealer from whom I had purchased the AC (RK Vision) and asked him to take his AC back and to provide me AC of some other company. Then the dealer sent the person for installation of both these ACs and those have been installed.
After installation of one AC, I found that the grill which controls the air direction was free and not working and I had to put some paper to fix that. I again made a complaint to customer care for demo and for attending this complaint I was given complaint no.[protected] on 22.6.14. When can I expect an engineer from the Company? Since, I have committed a blunder by purchasing Voltas products, I know I will have to bear such harassment. my email id is [protected]@gmail.com and registered mobile no. is [protected]. (Ravinder Nath)
I have also purchased 3 split 1.5.tonne AC of Voltas, but from the beginning the experience is not good and not only there was delay in installation, there is no after sales service even during warranty period as the seller /distributor who has taken money and supplied the unit, washes his hands off by informing that customer should contact /complaint at toll free no.of the Company as after selling the product, the after sales service is provided by customer care deptt and seller cannot do anything .This procedure is not being followed by Voltas alone, but has become norm for any product bought of any Company from the market .The Govt makes money by collecting taxes from every product sold, but has not provided for any means to see that product purchased by the customer is of good quality and proper after sales service is provided to customer, as most of the Companies are taking customers for granted and are not concerned once the product is sold .Even after entering into yearly contract for service and taking money yearly for AMC, required service is nor provided and the customer cannot not approach consumer forums for small-small things, as getting relief from there is time consuming and is not help full in all cases of problems being faced by customers .There should be a mechanism and service provided bv Consumer department of each State in all cities, wherein some helpline number is made available for interest of customers, so that if their problems are not attended, the buyer of any product can call the helpline number to register his complaint against the Company and appropriate help is provided by department of govt to make sure that the complaint of the buyer is attended and in case of delay on part of seller /manufacturer /trader, an appropriate action is taken immediately, which can make the seller /manufacturer etc accountable .The State governments will have to play some active role to make the sellers accountable and to protect the interest of consumer of any product, as otherwise after collecting payment for the product none of the reputed or local companies are willing to provide satisfactory service to the consumers .
