Dell — Battery and warranty issues

bought my Dell Inspiron 15 in August 2013. There was an offer going on where I got an "extended warranty for one year" where they said that I will have to pay for the replaced parts but not for the service for that extended warranty period. I took my dell for battery issues to the service center yesterday and those people tell me that my warranty expired in october 2014. How? If you cannot provide me with an extended warranty then don't even sell those stupid offers to me. My charger doesnt work my battery wont charge. I cant work on this laptop anymore. Dell provides the worst service ever.
