[Resolved]  education minister — Assessment criteria for class improvement students of 12th class

Address:Navi Mumbai

Madam Namasthe.

My son Mr.Anudeep Vishnuvajhala had appeared for HSC (12th class) exams during March 2020 and passed with an overall % of 50 (PCM – 35%). He could not get admission in any of good engineering colleges despite scoring 84.53% in JEE Mains due to the marks obtained in HSC (12th class). Hence, he has applied for class improvement and supposed to appear for HSC exams of March 2021. However, due to prevailing pandemic COVID scenario, the exams of HSC were cancelled by Maharashtra Government keeping in view the safety of students.

As per the information received from the college authorities, no assessment policy has been announced for students who have opted for class improvement. Instead these people were given 2 chances to appear for exams.

In this connection, we represent as under:

My son has been studying for the last one year to get his marks improved for 12th class. God forbid – If exams could not be conducted due to pandemic situations, then he has to waste one more year as getting admission with old marks is ruled out

Class improvement means he has to write for all the subjects of 12th class on par with regular students

Further, the current year students will be in advantageous position without writing the exams in the admissions to Engineering colleges

In the absence of assessment for the students who have opted for class improvement, they will be one year behind of current year students.

Keeping in view the above, we request your goodselves to implement the same assessment criteria applicable to regular students, to the students who have opted for class improvement also. After the assessment if the students are not satisfied with the assessment of marks, they can appear for the exams whenever conducted.

It is our humble request. Otherwise students like my son will have to waste one more year for getting admission to good engineering colleges which results in admission to engineering course with a delay of two years after completion 12th class.

Kindly think as a parent and suitable orders may please be issued accordingly. By doing so nobody loose anything but the said set of students will be justified by the Govt. thereby ensuring justification to all category of students.

With regards
VSR Krishna
Parent of Anudeep Vishnuvajhala
