HDFC Bank — Credit Card - useless

I applied for a credit card september last year, HDFC guy issued me a DINNERS Card saying that since its my first Credit Card with HDFC, its the primary card, which company will upgrade after a few days o[censored]se. since then that card is of no use. this card is accepted only where the swiping machine is of HDFC or City bank. otherwise its of no use. i tried to upgrade it 2 times but it got rejected from their chennai office. I really need upgradation of my card into any Master/VIsa card.
