I have a five year old IFB washing machine. The machine was running perfectly when we noticed water leaking from the bottom of thei machine. There was no other problem and the electronic panel did not give any error message.
I lodged a request for service from IFB customer care who registered my request[protected] and sent a technician (form a franchisee and not company). The technician was in such a great hurry that he did not even listen to the complaint but checked the cycling and said there was problem with the mother board and removed it and said they will have to replace a chip. He kept repeating that the wash cycle programme was not functioning and immediately rolled out the estimate. When we told him about the leakage he said he will fix everything once the mother board was fixed and he will come back the next day.
I suspected fishy when he asked me to keep the board outside the house. When I asked him why, he replied that there will be gas in the panel! He was gassing! He returned on monday[protected] to fix the panel. I confronted him and asked him where and which chip they had replaced. First he said the entire panel had been replaced and showed me an old panel he had brought along to convince me! I had to then tell him that I had the sl no. and date of manufacture on the panel which was June 2012! He immediately said only the chip had been replaced, I told him which chip since there was no indication of removal and replacement of any part on the panel which can easily be detected by the crude finish of manual soldering. He got so unnerved that he finished his task and left in a hurry collecting his service charges. He of course tried to contact the company but neither he not I could talk to the person who is supposed to have repaired the board. He left saying we will receive a call from the company. Despite our request to stop the leakage at both the inlet and at the tap connection he rushed back and said that drain pump needs replacement and showed me the part and asked me to arrange for the spare! After he left I had to fix the hose connection and stop water leakage.
He did not even give me a receipt and I do not know which service franchisee he was from.
