ITC — Warning on Cigarette Packs

Address:Kolkata, West Bengal, 700071

I am an occasional smoker of cigarettes since last 40 years or so. Warning on Cig Packs was " CIGARETTE SMOKING IS INJURIES TO HEATH : prefix by Statutory Warning, mean it is mandatory as per Indian Laws. In the recent past it says "WARNING : SMOKING KILLS - TOBACCO CAUSES CANCER" please note that the word Statutory warning is missing. Very recently I bought a my favourate brand Wills Classic which as word WARNING : SMOKING CAUSES THROAT CANCER" - here too, the word Statutory warning is missing. This establish, this statement is from ITC Limited.

The both the above WARNINGS are highly misleading and mischievous, and totally untrue and misstatement of fact. If one visit a cancer institute or a Hospital, the umber of cancers including throat, in specific women are non-smokers. I also came across, thousands of known persons, who are substantial smokers, lived for 70+ years and without any THROAT and or other CANCER.

Immediate action to be taken to either withdraw the above misleading statement . If it is mandatory to mention based on Govt directive, please state that, the above statement is owned and responsible by Govt and Law makers and not ITC limited. If it is not withdrawn and or stated as Statutory warning, a PIL can be filed and hefty compensation will be claimed by me for disturbing my mind due to such misleading statement by ITC Ltd without any substantiation based on facts at their pocession.
