Date: 15/07/2016 To mahindra customer relations management: Sub: complaint ref#: x[protected]ind. request for replacement of defective mahindra xuv500 that was purchased brand new recently. I purchased a brand new mahindra xuv500 in june 2016 and the current odometer reading is about 1711kms. we were driving from nellore (andhra pradesh) to bangalore yesterday with my family and the vehicle dangerously stopped suddenly on the highway, a little away from kolar town, with a big jerk and smoke started coming from the bonnet. it was around8pm in the evening and i called up mahindra service/road side assistance for immediate help. the road side assistance did not turn up until midnight and we were stranded in the highway in darkness with small children for about 4hrs. this is our first long drive in this vehicle since we purchased it in june 2016 and the vehicle has been well maintained and driven with care all along. it is very disappointing that a brand new mahindra xuv500 vehicle broke down badly with such a low mileage. please note that our family has a long association with mahindra as we have been owning multiple mahindra automobile products including another mahindra xuv500, logan and verito and have been using them with no issues for several years. as a valued customer and longtime mahindra automobile user, i strongly demand that this defective vehicle be recalled and replaced with a new defect free xuv500 immediately. it is unfortunate that mahindra’s quality inspection has grossly missed such a major defect in the vehicle and safety of customers have been highly compromised. it is very dangerous and unsafe to have a vehicle suddenly break down in the middle of a highway in the night time, that too a new vehicle, which makes the quality and reliability standards of your products questionable. It was also very disappointing that the road side assistance took almost 4hrs to reach us and we had to take the help of the highway police patrol for our safety in the late night hours. while i have made several references to highly valued customers and influenced them to buy mahindra vehicles in the past, this bitter experience with road side assistance and huge overlook of quality and safety aspects by mahindra is definitely expected to have negative influence on your products in the highly competitive automobile market. i’m sure you will take this incident very seriously and take the necessary steps to enhance your quality/safety standards, improve customer service and honor consumer rights. please escalate this issue to the highest level of management as appropriate with high priority to resolve immediately by providing a new defect free xuv500.
