Morphy Richards — accents food mixer 400008

I purchased the above mixer from tv shopping a few years ago and it's only been used once, dry stored under a cover, i went to use it last week and nothing! The 'work light' flashes and that is all. I contacted morphy richards and was given the number of the company that 'makes our mixers'. Upon contacting this number i was told that it was most likely a 'software issue' and then the call turned into a sales pitch for a new 'discounted' mixer.
Whilst i realise that the mixer is 3 or so years old, it's had almost no use and morphy richards attitude and lack of spares availability is poor, this has ruled out me ever buying another morphy richards product again.
