Complaints filed by me since January 2021 to the Maharashtra Government are replied to by Assistant Engineer Building & Factory D-Ward. There is no name on the letters and the signature does not give his full name so I have posted the copy of his reply which I have received today for two complaints - one complaint about unauthorised changes in a flat in B-Wing and one complaint about the damage and dampness in many parts of my flat which can cause short circuit. No one from D-Ward has come for inspection of my flat after I filed the complaint. The same officer has replied to me with a common reply to four complaints that the flats and the areas which I have been complaining of are under lock and key ignoring day and time dated camera photos which I have posted aliongwith the complaints. The complaints are related to breaking of walls in several flats, construction of illegal bathroom in the open chowk area of the building, tampering with drainage and sewage pipes, illegal work like constructing bathrooms and rooms on open terraces of a flat and concealing the unauthorised construction by doing exterior work. No permissions have been obtained from the Mumbai Mahanagarpalika or Mhada for the work being done in the 80 year old building Maheshwar Mansion at 34 Nepean Sea Road in South Mumbai. When I complained about the damage in my flat and requested for inspection report, the Assistant Engineer (B&F) D-Ward, who seems to be the competent authority to look into the complaints related to the building, has sent me a common reply for two complaints dated 01/04/2021 saying exterior tenantable work is going on in the building which mean I should continue to stay in the flat till I am trapped in the debris or get killed due to short circuit. Making false reports without inspection to save the culprits and with malafide intentions is a crime and amounts to dereliction of duty. Work has been going on without any action by Mumbai Mahanagarpalika since the past three months and even during lockdown.
