Police — Lost mobile phone

Hi, I lost my Iphone 4s and I went to Rein Bazar Police station for booking a complaint, they told me that they'll not book any FIR, they'll just note it down and if it get traced they'll notify me.But two months have been completed but I didn't got my phone.
