[Resolved]  Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri — Rude Behavior of Pandas / Daitapatis at Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri

Dear Reader,

I am escalating the matter to you because I think the matter needs immediate attention from all the people from different social backgrounds. Jagannathdham is one of the holy places for our Hindus. Many people from around the world visit Jagannathdham,Puri. If feedback is collected from them about their experience about Jagannathdham, they will say two things i.e. firstly, they will not visit Puri for second time and secondly, the daitapatis (Pandas) are very rude, abusing, and violent. The economy of Puri is totally dependent on Tourists and such bad experience of tourist will hamper the growth of the economy of Puri. The management of Temple administration should take care of all such issues. No doubt, they have deployed police force inside the temple but they should give them the power to protect the visitors from the gunda daitapatis. Else, a training school should be opened for the training of these daitapatis. The daitapatis/pandas needs to be controlled by hook and crook. I have experienced it and have heard tourists visiting Puri.

Hope things will improve in right direction in future if proper awareness is propagated.

With Regards,
PR

We recently visited Puri Jaganath hoping that we are visiting one of the sacred place on earth but our experience undermined the sanctity of the temple. The crowd management by authorities are appalling. The queues are maintained outside the temple and near the entrance of Jaganath temple, there is no queues maintained and people push each other that we were wondering that no stampede should occur.
The most unacceptable thing is The Pandas (priests) block the view asking for money which is really degrading. If devotees want to offer flower or anything should be allowed outside and not blocking the views. Every devotee is visiting the temple to have a peaceful glimpse of the Lord but the experience is despicable especially in 21st centaury.
The best way to manage is organise queues in an orderly way and all offerings outside the temple and keep only one priest who should do only aarthi. All offerings should be in the Hundi only. If the adminstrator doesnot know how to manage, you can ask our youth who will give better solution.
