Sony - not like old days. Last 10-12 years, all sony products have started showing one or the other complaints. Very bad quality product, always highly priced & horrible after sales service.
Sony still uses its "old" brand image to mis-sell their bad quality products, i must say. All sony products has lost its quality & no after sales support no matter how genuine the complaints are.
The 55-inch 3d led tv model no. Son-kdl55hx750 bearing serial no. 3255289, was purchased on[protected] from qrs retail limited, west nadakkavu, calicut via their invoice no.[protected].
All was well until 16th aug 2016, where it started showing a horizontal line which is around 1-inch wide on the lower half of the tv plus an additional blackness was seen on the left half of the screen making it blackish.
Upon requesting the service from its authorised centre, technician informed that it is a problem with the display panel & that it need to be replaced for which it will cost around rs.46, 000/-.
Whaaaaaat the hell???
I have sent a mail directly to sony requesting to replace the display foc or asking for a discount on the new spare part price; as its only been 3 yrs now.
I have been a sony customer for the last 28 years, but when i am confronted with a genuine complaint, sony had not even cared to reply the mail or to support me in any manner. The tv is very expensive with a price tag of rs.1, 13, 000/-.
It was quite a shock and a huge scar on the repute of sony, to understand that there is no warranty provided for display panel for such a costly product, even for atleast 5 years???
