Sony India — Poor service | |||
Poor product, poorer service. Hello! I had bought an Xperia ZL on 11 January 2014. Within six months it developed a problem and my voice would not go through the mic. I gave it to the Jaipur service centre and they gave the handset refurbished after around 15 days. In less than a year it started giving me the same problem. I managed for about a month using the headset and rebooting the handset with the hope of overcoming the problem. But it would simply not go. Then I went again to the Jaipur Service Centre. This time they told me that the set could not be repaired and I had the option of buying a new one by paying half the MRP of my old phone and the difference in amount in the price for the new handset. So essentially, a) I had a phone with an extremely short service life, b) I did not have the option of buying another Brand’s handset, c) I did not have the option of buying a cheaper Sony handset. With no other option, I agreed for the offer and the person at the Service Centre told me the following: i) I will have to pay the amount in cash ii) I will also have to give my old handset iii) I will not get any standby handset iv) It will take 8-10 days for the new handset to arrive v) The new handset will come in a sealed box and I will get all those accessories which I return. So I went to the Service Centre with cash. But now they told me to get a DD in the name of Sony India Pvt. Ltd. So I went to the bank, got a DD made and paid Rs. 50 for the DD. Went back to the Service Centre to give them the DD. There was no news from The Service Centre for about 8 days and so I called them up. They now said that the DD would not do and I have to deposit cash!!! So I again went to the Service Centre and deposited cash. Now Sony had my handset, cash plus the DD!!! I finally got my handset on 10th of August. BUT I did not get back my DD I would get only the handset and no accessory. (Ie a new handset with no compatible accessories !!!) The Service Centre people now said that I would get only the handset and nothing else!!! I finally got back my DD after some follow up on 12th of August 2015- fifteen days after I had deposited it. I went back to my bank to get the DD cancelled and paid Rs50 as cancellation charges. I have never felt so cheated before! Was this information helpful? | |||
