Star News — Cosmos at waverley retirement home | |
We paid a deposit of r20, 000 (plus another r10, 000 for half a month’s stay) for my 92 year old mother, mrs bc hansen, to move into a retirement home called cosmos at waverley (in waverley, johannesburg). she hated it there because the old people around her were absolutely crazy, nuts, gaga... shouting, screaming and making no sense. we took her out after 11 days and sent an email to cosmos’ roy michas ([protected]@flower.org. za[protected] asking him to kindly refund half the deposit, ie r10, 000, because of what happened... and my mother being 92. we had no idea the people in the facility that cosmos placed my mother were so “out of mind” crazy. he and his organisation refused. Under the consumer protection act, my understanding is we have up to 30 days to try a product or service. my mother was there for 11 days for a total cost of over r30, 000, of which r20, 000 was a deposit. So now that they refused to meet us half-way with a r10, 000 refund, i am seeking the full r20, 000 refunded…. under the consumer protection act. The person at cosmos who corresponded with me is roy michas. his details are as below: Roy michas Area manager Pioneer house Cosmos at waverley Orchid place.
