Tata Docomo — Churn fees charged without informing | |||
I had purchased a TATA Docomo Wifi max dongel and took the plan for 5000 rupees where I got the dongel free with 3 months of free wifi internet. The service had started in January 2014 and I had free internet till April 2014. I had cancelled my subscription by the end of March 2014. In May 2014, I received a bill for the amount 1124 which was listed as a Churn fees. Apparently churn fees is charged to consumers if they cancel the account within 6 months o[censored]sage. At the time of purchase and at the time of cancellation, I had not received any oral or written communication about this churn fees. I refused to pay the amount and had been getting constant calls during working hours from the collection agency asking for the payment. I had sent an email to the company's complaint redressal email ID post which I got a call from them accepting their mistake and reducing 250 rupees from the total bill. Even after acknowledging that they as a company are obliged to inform the customers of all the fees involved and after accepting that they had failed to inform me about the fees, they still did not waive off the entire amount. This is equivalent to cheating the customer by charging amounts that had never been mentioned. I hope suitable action is taken against this issue and other customers do not fall prey to this.
