[Resolved]  Tata Docomo — Unjustified billing for disconnedted account number[protected]

I have had a Tata Docomo Broadband connection (Account no.[protected] for the past one year. I had raised a complaint on 18th March that my connection was dead and there was no response from your side. The repairs did not happen even until 29th March, so i disconnected it on the same day. My billing cycle is on 17 of every month, so practically i did not use a single kb of data in the last cycle due to the connection being down. Yet your billing team is charging be ~Rs.500 for last month usage! This is absurd and i do not intend to pay for a dead connection. Please look into the issue and cancel any outstanding amount in my account. I have already paid all arrears until 17th March. Just for your information, my experience with this relationship has been pathetic, but it wasn't due to Tata's fault. Connections in my area are through a local firm called milestone communications, which has a monopoly in the area and provide horrible service while also charging a much higher installation cost! (Rs. 2700!). My connection was very badly wired and installed due to which my line was down every week or two. In the end, my connection was down for weeks together at a time! Now after such a bad experience, you end up harrasing me even after disconnecting the connection!

Now the customer care repeatedly sends mails threatening to involve dispute settlement although they have not responded to any of my complaints and provided no satisfactory resolution. Read one of the complaint mails below.

Hi Irfan,

I will not be making any further payments as the outstanding amount was wrongly charged to my account post disconnection of my account. Also, my connection has not been working since 18th March.

I have already raised a complaint with the Appellate officer as well as your CEO grievance redressal service. Request you to check these details and get a complete understanding before sending out such mails.

That waiver is only partial. It is only from the date of complaint, 18th March to the date i asked for a disconnection, ie. 29th March. The connection was disconnected 7 days later and i have been charged Rs. 581 for the same.

Now you tell me, the complaint i gave on 18th March was never resolved at all.
You wrongly marked my complaint as resolved when i gave my disconnection request on 29th. It was never resolved and no engineer even bothered to come to my house..
Then why am i charged for usage after 29th March when my connection was not working and i have already given a disconnection request?

My billing cycle is on 17th of every month. So technically the only day internet was working was on 17th. Not a single day after that.

I cannot get any clearer than this. Look into the issue in depth and try to understand the problem here.

The complain is regarding my broadband Internet connection, not a Docomo phone connection. I have given my account number in my above complaint. I just received an email from you that legal proceedings will be initiated against me!
This is extremely poor customer service.
I received a call from Irfan in the first week of June saying that the outstanding amount would be waived off in the following billing cycle on 18th of June. He said he is sending a detailed email with the confirmation of the waiver.
Now I am being harassed by your collections office with no proof to show regarding this call.
If things don't work out, i intend to file a case against Irfan and the parent company!
