I was traveling to usa in july and had called vodafone customer care to activate international roaming and simultaneously deactivate any data plan.
I did this because i only wanted to receive otp messages from my bank. I was not using my vodafone number to make any calls or use internet. I was told i have to pay inr 150 per month for such services, to which i agreed.
One day when i was in usa, i got a message saying that i have consumed 14mb for which i will be charged inr 8500. It was weird because i did not use my vodafone number for any data and also i had opted only for call facility in usa and not data plan.
When i called customer care, i was told they will look into waiving off the inr 8500 but was told to wait for 24 hours and in the meantime i can pay my outstanding bill of inr 1000. I waited but even before their call, my number was barred for any outgoing calls.
I called customer care from a different number and was told to wait for next billing cycle to get the waiver which was 20 days ahead of the call. I told them how can i wait for 20 days without any number, they said this is how system works and after a day, my incoming/sms facility was also barred.
I had no option but to switch to a different operator. After a week of this, my friends are now getting calls that they will initiate legal proceedings against me (For inr 1000 + 8500) even while i was waiting for their call.

Vodafone should waive off the entire inr 8500 from my bill, whenever it is generated and issue a formal apology for my harassment. Otherwise, i will have no option but to take legal recourse.
