Vodafone — Number Suspended Pending Verification

Hi VI Team,

I have been using Vodafone services since almost 2 years and recently a just over a month ago I opted for upgrading to postpaid from VI app. After a few days, on 1st March 2023(01/03/2024) I received a call from VI service agent asking for my address to deliver the sim. Same day he came to my home and all the process was done and he entered all the details in his app and took a picture of my Aadhar and uploaded it in that app and finally took a photograph of me. At last he gave me the new postpaid sim and he told me that once old sim gets deactivated, put the new postpaid sim in the device and call 59059 for tele-verification to activate the number. I did the same but the call was failing and the sim didn’t get activated. I tried calling to the same number multiple times but call was failing each time. But somehow without tele-verification making the call also my sim got activated by the end of the day. Everything went fine for a week but after that my outgoing services are stopped. I couldn’t make a phone call, send a SMS and also couldn’t use my mobile data. I contacted customer care and Thu said something like my address verification. But I didn’t receive any call or no one came for verification. She said that I will get a under 72 hours for address verification and once it is verified, my issue will be resolved. I waited for the said time but I didn’t receive any call from VI and my complaint is marked as closed in VI app. I did the same process again and for the second time also I didn’t get any call for verification and my ticket is closed. Few days after my second attempt for verification, my incoming services were also stopped. After calling to customer care again, I came to know that my postpaid number is suspended and when I asked what is the solution, she said that she escalated the issue to concerned team and now my issue will be resolved under 48 hrs. But my complaint was marked as closed on the same day without me receiving any call on my given alternate number over the call. Next day got a call saying that my issue will be resolved in 5 days but very next day I got a call asking me to go to nearby VI store to fix the issue. I stay in a small rural town, where there is one Vodafone store and they said cannot help me with postpaid related issues. I had to go to near by town which is 50 kms away where there are multiple VI store and still not all of them are ready to deal with postpaid customers. So I finally found a store where he checked my number and said that they cannot help me as the number is suspended and they can only help me if number is active. They said max solution they can provide is to raise a complaint to some VI head office and seek their help in activating the number again. But I am not sure this will work and not sure how long will this would take even if this works.

This is my main mobile number which I have been using for more than 10 years. This number is very important to me. I am currently unable to activate my credit card and I couldn’t book a slot for my vehicle registration as it requires same mobile number which was used during vehicle’s TR. My TR has expired already and now I need to pay fine for permanent registration. Also I cannot take my use my vehicle with expired TR for which I will be charged challans if caught. I am in a very bad situation currently not know when my issue will be resolved or whom to blame for this. Is it my fault for taking a decision to convert from prepaid to postpaid or VI company’s fault for not resolving the issue asap. Hope VI will see this complaint and help me asap by activating my SIM.
