Western Digital — HDD not being detected

My laptop isn't detecting my Western Digital hard disk. Suddenly it stopped working and following is happening after connecting it to my laptop (Win 7 64 bit OS)LED of the drive are ON.A light spinning sound can be heard from the drive.

Hi Mandy,
I am glad to help you today, based on your post there might be a software or hardware issue . There are few basic troubleshooting steps that you may try to resolve your hard drive issue.
1) Go to device manger from there you can reinstall the drivers after that restart your PC you should be able to connect the drive.
2) Connect using different ports if available
3) Connect using a different cables if possible.
4) Try to connect the hard drive with another device if possible.
You may also run he DLG software from WD to confirm if there is any fault in the drive.
