[Resolved]  Mahindra Powerol HUPS — Failed battery no replacement

Address:Chennai, Tamil Nadu

Dear Sir/ Madam,

1. Fire Technologies India (P) Limited, at 3/171, Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR), Thoraipakkam, Chennai, the concern which sold me an 800 VA Mahindra Powerol HUPS and the Mahindra Powerol Chennai service rep Mr.Hariprasad are harassing me for the last 3 months, by not attending to the defective product they sold me. I am at my wits end and if my problem is not solved immediately, I will be forced to approach the Consumers Court.

2. Fire Technologies sold me the 800 va HUPS S.No. So20C[protected] vide their invoice No.1100311 on 27.12.2011. The UPS came with an 150 AH Prestolite battery S.No B122975. But in Feb 2013 itself, the UPS stopped working. After many calls to Fire Technologies, a rep came on 14 Feb 13, checked the battery, changed the distilled water and left after charging me Rs.250. The UPS still did not work, on being approached Fire Technologies gave me the Toll Free Number and washed their hands off.

3. Since then, I have complained to your Call Center at least half a dozen times. They either send me an SMS asking me to contact a particular technician or get a service center man on the line and then, promptly close the complaint, by sending another SMS. The service center rep, Mr.Hari visited first on 19 Feb 13 and asked me vide service report 2603, to get the battery recharged privately. I did that at a cost of Rs.400 and the battery still did not work. On complaining again and again, the same rep came on 29 Mar 2013 and vide service report No 2923 opined that the battery will have to be changed. He asked me to await action by the service center. On reminding, their rep Mr.Hariharan came on 02.04.2013, collected the warranty card, original bill, Rs.400 and took away the battery, without providing any standby.

4. It is 39 days since the battery was taken away and every time I approach, Hari, Muruganantham, Sabari, Hariprasad or the Call Center, each one points a finger at the other and finally I am asked to wait for the replacement battery which is still awaited from Mahindra Poweroll. This is atrocious. The battery made by such a prestigious company fails within the warranty period and the customer is punished for buying it by making him run around like this. This is happening in the peak summer of Chennai.

5. I still have faith in Mahindra and hope that some sensible person would arrange to immediately issue me with a new battery as replacement. I also hope that Mahindra would teach their dealers and service centers that their duty does not end with just selling the product and making excuses thereafter when there is an issue.

For prompt action please.
