Avoid Dr Sibabrata Banerjee At Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata — Dr Sibabrata Banerjee Review Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata

I posted this a while ago, but this doctor is maliciously removing honest reviews, which goes against Google's Terms of Service (TOS). I've been seeing this doctor for about 1.5 years. His assistant at Apollo Hospital is extremely rude. She rolls her eyes at you. She does not respond to messages, and she will not let you speak to the doctor in case of an emergency.

This started on a typical Monday morning when I discovered that I had trouble standing up. I messaged the doctor's assistant with my problem and asked her to give me a list of lab tests to do so that I can come to see the doctor in person the next day--with the test results. I didn't want to make multiple trips to the doctor's office because I was unwell. She did not respond to my message, so I called her and asked to speak to the doctor. Her reply was a curt "No." I had half a mind to tell her that she should learn how to speak to other people, but I kept quiet. Note that in 1.5 years this is the only time I have called them to speak to the doctor. She has been rude to me before and this was the straw that broke the camel's back.

To be clear, I was not asking for free consultation, just a list of tests to do, but free consultation is what they assumed. People who are not brought up in a trusting environment never assume good faith when someone is in need. When I told this story to my family, they asked, "What kind of doctor is this?" I find it hard to believe that the assistant is doing all this without the doctor's knowledge. I wouldn't allow my employees to misbehave with my clients in this manner. I've known doctors who paste their names all over the Internet, hoping to impress people, but they care very little about their patients--and it shows.

I cannot recommend this kind of rude and arrogant behavior to anyone. If there is a life-threatening situation where time is of the essence, would this doctor even bother responding to you?

In conclusion, remember that medicine is a human enterprise--subject to both the best and the worst of human instincts. And people's true values are not what they claim them to be. True values are represented in how people treat others (specially when others are in need), the staff they keep, and how they conduct themselves in life. Therefore, it's in your best interest to separate the wheat from the chaff as soon as possible--shop around and find a doctor who's down-to-earth and puts people before profit.
