Long duration of repeat telecast from 12:30 to 3:30
The serial Yeh Rishta kya kehlata h started in 2009 on star plus channel used to be favorite time pass in our family but since lockdown due to its long duration of telecast almost three hours it is not only causing harm to the studies of the students but also causing increase in family tensions and violence.
In this lockdown situation when almost all the family members are at the home and most o[censored]s have single television, due to difference of interests of family members and such addictive nature of this show causes environment resentment generally between male and female member of the family. The children are the most adversely affected section because of addictive nature even they start watching this show in addition to that the violence impact their study.
Earlier part of this show promotes family values and traditions but the latter part is a bit aggressive and misleading. The lead actress is shown running away from their family members whenever she feels she is angry from their parents this might influence and promote them to do such silly act to persuade their parent.
Therefore I would request you to please reduce the time to 1 hour a day or please stop the repeat telecast of this show as it is just destroying the future of child instead of giving any valuable message.

Concerns about the portrayal of the character "Ridhima" on the TV Show "Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai"
| Website: STAR PLUS |
Respected Sir/Madam
This email is regarding your popular TV Show "Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai".
My family has recently begun watching this show. But, I have some objection to the message the show is sending out. Kindly read this email thoroughly as your TV show must affect the mindset of thousands of Indian families.
The show has a character called "Ridhima" who plays the role of a therapist, helping Kairav and his family. The family (i.e Naira and Kartik) fully trusts her to take care of and improve their son's mental health. But the therapist loses her mind and plots to kidnap Kairav and successfully does so, worrying the parents unconditionally as the result.
The role of a therapist is being terribly portrayed. Suppose a family watching this show is thinking about sending their child to a therapist, but this show may wrongfully influence their thoughts and make them decide that therapists are not trustable, and in the long term the child's mental health is affected badly.
Considering that the people of India have still not come to terms with the idea of taking care of their mental health, and often criticize those who do go to a therapist, this show is setting their mindset on the topic years behind.
Mental health is a very serious matter, and portraying a therapist as someone who is "evil" and a "family disrupter" is quite threatening to the whole profession and the idea that your own health should be prioritized and seeking help to do so is not a bad thing, and need not be hidden from the "world".
Your show may make someone decide not to go to a therapist, and going to a therapist needs to be DESTIGMATIZED. While your show is in turn, doing the opposite.
I do realize that the character "Ridhima" has lost her license, but I am pretty sure that fact must have not reached the audience's mind as well as the fact that the therapist posed a threat to the family.
I urge you to take immediate action over this. Playing with the concept of mental health is not a joke.
Thank you for taking the time to read this email. I look forward to hearing back from you with a solution.
Thanking you,
A concerned part of your audience,
Pratha Bhatia
