Dear Sir,
Today I happened to visit a pharmacy in our locality for some urgent medicines of my Wife in this lock down period.
I waited in a long queue and ultimately after more that 30-35 minutes could manage to reach the counter staff (identified himself as Mr. Dhruba) to provide me medicines since they were allowing only one customer at a time. I initially asked him for two medicines I marked as astrix, since that was urgently required by me in addition of 4 other medicines. He after getting the medicines informed that he can provide only three medicines of the six medicines I had asked for (only 1 medicine of the two urgent medicines I required). I requested him that since all medicines are not available I shall take one medicine (one among the two urgent medicines I required) since I shall again need to check other shops. He categorically informed that I need to purchase all three medicines otherwise he would not provide the single medicine. Further he commented that we are wasting their valuable time which I could not really make out. Similar instances I was observing him behaving with few other customers while I was in the queue.
Sir, I understand the today's crisis and I understand that how essential shops are operating in this lock down period. But my question is - How can someone deny a basic essential (I consider medicine as a basic requirement) in today's crisis wherein every individual is only trying to survive with minimum money since we all are in lockdown situation. His behaviour is additional.
I think we all need to protest as a citizen of India or else this may be a regular behavior.
I provide the details of the shop as -
Calcutta Chemist Corner
22, Gariahat Road, Kolkata - 29.
