I am a subscriber of BSNL - Calcutta Telephones and my telephone number is[protected]. The telephone remains dead for more than 24 days eventhough the complaint has been lodged through bsnl's "198" on 2.9.12. Since then I do check the status of redressal of my complaints through "[protected]" almost in every alternate day, and surprisingly everytime I am assured of " the complaint is being attented to". What is this? Really disgusting.

    MY TELEPHONE NO 25815115 IS OUT OF ORDER FOR MORE THAN 21 DAYS.
    BROADBAND SERVICE IS OUT OF SERVICE. COMPLAINT LODGED OF 27 AUG 2012.
    DOCKET NO IS [protected]. NO ONE IS PAYING INTEREST TO RESTORE THE SERVICE LINE.
    BADLY HAMPERED MY DAILY JOBS THROUGH INTERNET.
    HELP ME TO GET RID OF THIS SITUATION.
    LINE IS FREQUENTLY OUT OF SERVICE AND IT WOULD TAKE 30 TO 60 DAYS FOR ACTIVATION OF SERVICE LINE.
    PAYING TELEPHONE BILL REGULARLY BUT OF NO USE.

      I have applied for shifting of my telephone no[protected] from Hungerford st. to entally exchange in kolkata Central , within the same area on 15.6.2012. The Telephone had broadband services , I had opted for annual payment scheme.

      after my application received on 15th june 2012, my telephone could not be shifted till 19th july,on approaching higher authorities i could get the dial tone , but till date 24.07.2012 the internet broadband services has not resumed.
      authorities are least concerned about there services.

      I think its no use paying them salaies as they do not shoulder there responsibilities towards there subscribres.

      more over the service of BSNL has gone from bad to worse

      the person on helpline only directs subscribers to exchange & exchange guys turn down the request of subscribers as if subscribers are beggars

      BSNL — Non Shifting of Telephone

      I applied for [censored]ing of my Telephone No[protected] from Col Colony
      to Gobind Nagar ( within same exchange i.e Talab Tiloo) on 03.02.2011
      which was disconnected by the authorities on 07.02.2011 but despite my
      several visits to the concerned office nothing has been done till date
      ,in response I am told that the entry is parked in System which only
      Chandigarh people can restore. Today I again talked to Mr Sharma over
      his Mobile No[protected] but he told me that such type of mistakes can
      take long time to set right.Plz look into the matter and get
      theTelephone installed as per request.

        I am not receiving bill for my post paid mobile connection[protected]under Manik Jode Schemefor last 2 (two) years from Calcutta Telephones. So many correspondences have already been made from my end to Calcutta Telephones authority, but problem is still remaining in the same stage.
        Please help me so that I can get the monthly bill of that connection in due time and could make the payment smoothly.

            OUR LANDLINE TELEPHONE NO. 25319858 IS 25319858 UNDER THE NAME OF MY WIFE, SABITA MAITRA AT 87/51, A.K. MUKHERJEE ROAD, KOLKATA 700090. THE LINE IS PROVIDED BY CALCUTTA TELEPHONES (BSNL). WE VERY OFTEN FACE WITH VARIOUS PROBLEMS REGARDING THIS LANDLINE AS THE PROPER REPAIRING IS NEVER DONE IN TIME AND IF DONE, AFTER A CONSIDERABLE PERIOD. WE HAVE TO TAKE HELP OF MEDIA (NEWSPAPERS) TO GET OUR GRIEVANCES PUBLISHED AND THEN ONLY REMEDIAL MEASURES ARE TAKEN UP. THIS IS THE WAY GOVERNMENT ORGANISATIONS ARE SUB-STANDARDISING IN COMPARISON TO PRIVATE ORGANISATIONS. EVEN THE ATTENDING OFFICERS ARE UNAVAILABLE DURING OFFICE HOURS.

            REGARDING OUR LANDLINE BEING DEAD FOR MORE THAN 8 DAYS, I HAVE LODGED A COMPLAINT UNDER DOCKET NO. [protected] (INTERNET COMPLAINT REF. NO.[protected], I SENT MY REPRESENTATIVE TWICE TO THE EXCHANGE FOR REMEDIAL MEASURES. HE MET WITH MR BARUN DAS[protected] AND THOUGH ASSURED THAT THE LINE WOULD BE CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY, NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN SO FAR AND THE LINE REMAINS DEAD AS USUAL.

            I AM A SENIOR CITIZEN AND I HAVE A SEPARATE PRIVATE MOBILE NO. [protected] BUT WHEN I AM PAYING THE BILLS ARE PAID REGULARLY, WHY THE HELL, MY LANDLINE WOULD REMAIN DEAD FOR SUCH UNUSUAL PERIOD WHICH WE CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE IF THE LINE BELONGS TO A PRIVATE ORGANISATION.             Calcutta Telephones (BSNL) — Unfair Practice of Calcutta Telephones(BSNL)

            I have applied for BB Home Combo UL750 on[protected] from BBG FN 500. At the time of connection of my Telephone in the year 1997, security deposit of Rs.2280/- was charged(Bill date[protected] and the same is maintaining till now. But in the present month bill i.e. February,2012 "One Time Charges of Rs.750/-" is imposed as security deposit. I can not understand why "One Time Charges" is imposed over and above the prevailing security deposit. It should be exempted when there lies a security deposit against the Telephone connection. This is truly unfair practice from BSNL.

              FOLLOWING LETTER ADDRESSED TO CHIEF GENERAL MANAGER IS SELF EXPLANATORY

              Sub: Customer ID [protected], Current Tph. No 2688 6846
              Mobile No. [protected], & Broadband Connection

              Ref: DEDUCTION OF Rs 722/- for Tele No. 2668 1046

              Please refer to my letter of 04.12.2011, a copy of which is once again enclosed for your ready reference.
              I am shell shocked to find that the amount of Rs 722/-, wrongfully claimed by your EFFICIENT DEPARTMENT to be outstanding against Bill dated 04.01.1999 (or 12 years back), was deducted from my Savings Bank account on 7th Jan 2012. It is unfortunate that neither you nor your subordinate officials cared to reply to a Senior Citizen’s letter and instead conveniently sneaked the amount from my Bank Account in view of existing ECS Mandate.
              I once again would request you to look into the matter and reply to following queries:-

              1. What made your Senior Accounts Officer to wrongfully recover the amount of Rs 722/- after 12 years?

              2. IF such an amount was at all due, why the same was not recovered within 3/4 months of the bill date of 04-01-99. Normally you disconnect the line forthwith if any bill remains unpaid. Why no disconnection was made in this instance?

              3. Why a copy of the said Bill dated 04.01.99 was not enclosed with the letter instead asking me (a Senior Citizen) to collect the same from concerned Officer of the Area Office.

              4. Why your Senior Accounts Officer threatened to “disconnect” my telephone line if the payment is not made by 21/11/2011 for a bill which his EFFICIENT DEPARTMENT had raised after 12 YEARS? Who is at fault? Was he sleeping all these long years?

              Your department surely owes me an apology for failing to reply to my queries and threats for disconnections, which I will be happy if it does, which will help me to switch over to any of numerous other Operators in the field.

                I live in Kolkata. My telephone number is[protected]. From 2004, I havebeen paying my Calcutta Telephones telephone bill by ECS. This was till last month. Suddenly this month it has been stopped, and I had to go to Jadavpur Telephone Exchange to pay my bill, which I received yesterday and the last date ofwhich was 5th January, 2012. I am a Senior Citizen ( 72 years old ) and I have recently undergone a bypass surgery. For me ECS is a boon since it is very difficult for me to go to the Telephone Exchange or Post Office every other month just to pay my bill. Can ECS be restored in my case? If not, can I get to pay my bill by ECS again? If so, how? I will be obliged to you for your help. Dr. Bikash Bhadury.

                  Our house telephone no is 2434 5183 and it is in the name of my father Mr.Manabendra Nath Nandy.With the same line we have a broad band connection of plan of Rs.750/month.The broad band is not functioning properly since last six months .The main problem is the weakness of the link.Time and again we communicated our complaint to Sonarpur Branch by phone calls and by personal visit but every time we get the assurance and definitely it ends without any result.The broadband connection has been taken for usage and for that we pay hefty amount in each month that too much advance than the due date then why such lackadaisical attitude in rectifying the problem.One of the person who was sent 2 months before half heartedly attended the job.We had to buy parts(some casing.We do'nt know why we had to buy when the property is owned by Calcutta Telephones) but it went into waste.
                  We are really very annoyed over such attitude and we demand immediate attention else we have no option but to discontinue.

                  I am Mr. Samir Ghosh owner of the company scientific supply using a internet data card since last few years. But due to network problem I am not satisfied with the connection. So i like to surrender the connection immediately as early possible. Though I did not receive the last bill from you I paid the amount of Rs. 293/-. payment date 12.03.2012 issuing duplicate bill before due date.
                  Nowadays my connection is not under the usage condition. But still I receive the bill continuously.
                  I went to surrender the connection to BSNL Head Office 8, Benting street, Kolkata to Mr. Mitra.
                  But the concern person dining to receive the request. So it is my heartiest request to you that please accept the request to stop the connection as early as possible and do the needful.

                    Dear Sir's

                    My telephone no. is [protected] and I had applied for a brodband connection. On dated 23.09.11 two persons came to install the modem but after the installation of the modem, they demanded bribe for the installation . But at that time my daughter was alone in the house and she refused to pay the same.

                    Today morning I have received a sms for the password for the same, but at the time of connection of brodband I found that my telephone line is not working. Here I would like to mention that my telephone line was never gone out of order from the date of installation i.e. from August2008..

                      Phone dead from last 17days
                      My phone No. is[protected] & my phone often become dead. I have made complaint online and it was docketed also many times to local exchange Fault service i.e. 25262198, but nobody responding me. Although my Broadband connection is working, I fail to understand the reason of my phone dead. If you are not able to provide the land line service please let me know the reason of the same.

Inspite of registering complaint repeatedly thru phone and personal visit to Purbaputiary telephone office no action have been take, . Due to non availability of telephone and internet connection huige difficulty is being faced by me and also my son who is studying at Jadavpur University in Electronics Engineering stream. Pl look into for expeditious corrective action.

                          calcutta telephones broadband service — disturbed connectivity since a long period

                          I am a broadband subscriber since long and paying calcutta telephones
                          a minimum Rs 1000/- every month. My broad band service is being disturbed more often and not getting connectivity. I have registered my complaint through tel No. 1504 number of pccassions. My telephone no. is 2435 7248 to which the broad band service is received.
                          I have decided to go to the consumer forum if my complaint is not redressed on an urgent basis..

                            I am a bonafide customer with your concern. Last month I have paid Rs.5, 434 againsy tel no. 26415887 to avail Combo 500 yearly, though I have applied for 2 years to avail 3 years which was not implement.
                            In this month I am too much surprised that You are giving the combo 500 facility to my other tel no.26381411 . and make a bill against tel no 26415887 Rs. 304/= . Kindly check the true fact and arrange to change the bill as early as possible.
                            I will not accept the bill which may creates trouble among us,

                              I am a senior citizen who has been facing too much trouble on regular basis by 033-2637 exchange of Howrah,West Bengal for my land line and Broadband connection at 26373034 and recently for monthly billing.
                              During March2011,when the trouble of Broadband connection has become intolerable,one officer advised me over telephone to purchase a new modem.
                              Accordingly on 15.03.11 I have purchased a modem costing of Rs1800 from their office at 200&201 G T Road(North)Howrah-711107 vide cash Sl No.SD0058613 pay date 15.03.11(photo copy is attached).
                              On 09.04.11 my telephone bill for the month of March2011was seen as published by Calcutta Telephones at the relevant site in the net( photo copy is attached),where the bill amount was shown as Rs 2896.00 and the due date was shown as 28.04.11.It was understood that this bill was prepared charging the cost of the Modem though it was purchased in cash.I talk over telephone with the officer of AOTR Department on the otherday who assured me that the bill will be rectified well before the due date.
                              But as nothing was corrected till 1st hour of the due date(28.04.11)I was compelled to lodge a written complaint to AOTR Department of the said office on 28.04.11to avoid future complication and requested them to adjust my previously deposited extra amount total amounting Rs2224.00 with the corrected bill to be prepared.(Photo copy attached)
                              On 29.04.11 I found again in the site of net that keeping the same bill amount of Rs 2896.00changing the due date as 05.05.11 and mentioning the modem cost as Rs 1800,a new bill has been published for the same month(March11)
                              I apprehend that it is an ill motivated attempt by Calcutta Telephones to cheat Rs 1800.00 from me for the cost of Modem for which the cost was already paid on 15.03.11.

                                Firstly, on visiting the exchange from where I obtained the telephone namely, Metropolitan Exchange Kolkata 700105 I was redirected to Taheer Mansion in Bentinck Street.
                                On visiting Taheer Mansion I was further directed to Hare Street Dalhousie.
                                Hare Street on checking their so called system have now directed me to Salt Lake but they cannot say where.

                                  Its been just 2 months that I have taken a new connection (both landline and broadband) from Calcutta Telephones.(BSNL).For the past two days the phone line went suddenly dead and because of which the broadband is obviously not working.I tried contact all possible customer care numbers, exchange, and the toll free number but being a Govt.of India organisation, noone of the number works when there is a fault.IVR stops responding.This means I am paying rent which is worthless.! I tried sending them emails as well but to my amazement, I get an error that their mailbox has exceeed the size (maybe because of complaints) and hence the mail cannot be delivered.If I go to the exchange, nothing happens as noone bothers to respond..What can be done? Plz suggest

I had lodged complaint on 03/08/09 through computerised fault booking system - docket no. 35190.The fault was not attended - on personal enquiry from local telephone exchange ( Colony More exchange), I was informed that the repair is getting delayed due to strike/ agitation of maintenance staff and it will be attended within a day or two. When the fault was not attended I tried to connect the officer incharges[protected], 25422026,[protected], but the telephone remained unanswered as no one lifted the phone.
                                    On further enquiry through computerised fault booking system on 11/08/2009 I was informed that my complaint is already docketed - docket no. 38725 which was different from docket no. indicated earlier. I am a consumer of BSNL for more than 20 years. I had never faced such a frustating situation in the past and I was by and large satisfied with the performance of BSNL. Now I don't know whom to apprach for getting the fault attended.

                                      Although the broadband is in operation, my land phone remains dead since 10.07.2010. I have lodged complain numerous time on[protected]. I have visited the office of Kalyani Telephone Exchange . I have lodged complaint on customar care portal at least twice. I am astonished to find that in the span of one and half a month none from Calcutta Telephones has attended the problem at all. Is it not adequate to proceed to Consumers' Forum for diseservices?

                                        I, Mrs. Sipra Dasgupta, would like to bring to your kind attention a grievance related to my landline connection with Calcutta Telephones which I am experiencing since 2009 November, but to which no resolution has been provided by the Calcutta Telephones authority.


                                        Since Nov 2009, my landline[protected] has been crippled with disturbance and noise, where neither the communication could be heard from the calling party nor my voice could be heard by the other party - basically, even though the dial tone would be there and I would be charged for making the calls and billed in due time, the phone basically serves no purpose. Being a widow, I had gone from pillars to post, seeking redressal from Calcutta Telephones, but to no avail.


                                        Recently, even when I approached the District Officer (Consumer Affairs), my pleas have gone into deaf ears and only false assurances have been provided. Even though the men are sent to my premises for verification of the lines, they actually are not doing anything. One of them stated that with the hissing sound heard when I pick up the receiver, it could be possible that the same is shared with someone and used for data transmission over broadband.


                                        The local telephone office is just giving me a form for requesting a disconnection and they are not willing to address the problem and provide me any solution. Recently, have observed that when someone tries to call me at this number, they are receiving the message this number is not in use.
                                        Relevant docket numbers since the first time are as follows: N3809 dated 27/11/2009 at 12:06:48 hrs at the Customer Cell, Jadavpur Area, Kolkata, O7316 dated 21/12/2009 at 12:50:22 hrs at the Customer Cell, Jadavpur Area, Kolkata, also complained on 25/05/2010 at Customer Cell, Jadavpur Area, Kolkata - when they just wanted me to surrender and handed over the disconnection form, which I do not wish to do. I contacted Consumer Affairs on 22/07, thereafter Personnel visited on Jul 23/07 when they informed that the line is being used for Broadband connections which I am not aware of. Since then there have been no updates and no one has ever contacted me for redressal of this grievance. I tried to contact the Consumer Affairs on 09/08, 12/08 - no one picked up - I left the voice SMS. For all these reasons, I decided to hold on the payment of July till this issue is resolved.


                                        Request you to please help me in resolving this issue and take appropriate action against the culprits involved in ensuring that my Landline remains non-functional. You may please reach me on my cell / e-mail for further discussions. Even though I am paying for a service every month and I am entitled to make free calls, I cannot do so because of this issue. I consider this as a gross negligence and apathy to my concerns by the Calcutta Telephones Authority and they lack ownership and are providing false assurances and neglecting services and billing consumers for services which they are supposed to, but are not actually providing.

                                        Perhaps there is a limit ot patience moreso when you are in the Servicne Industry
                                        with so many options(private players now), yet unfortunately Cal Tel seems to ignore
                                        and willingly not learn as a PSU. Otherwise why will a land line set (my residence telephone[protected]be dead for days together when I'am a paying in time, never a defaulter. It has turned out to be a recurring problem. I expect the service being a customer.
                                        How come then you claim u r providing service? Moreso when my number is a press number and have seriously ill aged patients home.
                                        Please treat it on an urgent basis and confirm better service in days ahead per return mail.
