Carwale — Scam on used car using Indian Army Name

Address: Siliguri

Hi Team, I was going through the used car ad on a website called Carwale, here is the link https://www.carwale.com/used/cars-in-siliguri/marutisuzuki-wagon-r[protected]s14... . This ad is pretty amazing so I just clicked and within few minutes I got a call from an unknown number saying "Since you are interested in my car, I wanted to know if you are willing to negotiate". We had a short conversation and he said to start a chat conversation on the same number on WhatsApp. He sent clear images of a car. I was surprised at first glance, the price and car condition was uncomparable.

I called this person and asked his name and location for the test drive. This call made me sure that I am dealing with a scammer. He was using our traditional name and the moment I spoke our local language he replied he is in the army and he forgot the language because of his duty. So, I started to play with the person.

He tried to convince me by sending his ids and personal pics. Indian army is not allowed to share his/her on-duty uniform pics with anyone, and this guy is sending his pics, service Id, and Aadhar card. Once he shared his details, he started calling me asking me to share my personal details to start the trade. This person was so sure he didn't even care that I will notice the faces in each photograph are different.

His scam script started with "I am currently posted at Lucknow and the car is with me. All you have to do is - I will send you my car in army transport at your address, just pay the transport bill (around Rs 8300). You do the test drive, show it to any mechanic and if not satisfied return the car using same transport. They will give you Rs.8000 cash as a refund and that's it. If everything goes fine transfer the rest of the amount to my account".

Scammers are setting their traps on online trading platforms, this is a known fact. Internet is almost free and we live in an era of technology. It comes with pros and cons. We have to take care of every step we take. The world outside is not beautiful as it looks. Scammers are just people who are trying to earn and feed themself. However, they are using the name of our nation's pride, our brother's identity, who are protecting us in borders. The Indian Army itself is a symbol of sacrifice and bravery. It's a symbol of the strength of our nation and people like this are using it for scamming the country.

This was unbearable and I had to do something. I can provide more details. Please do something. I was not scammed but I found many such cases where people lost money under similar scams.
