CKD Institute Amritsar — Wrongful termination and exploitation of employees

Address:Amritsar, Punjab

I, Japneet, was selected as Assistant Professor (Management) in Chief Khalsa Diwan Institute of Management & Technology, Amritsar affiliated to PTU, Jalandhar by a panel interview on 12th April 2013. I joined the Institute on 22nd July 2013 at a consolidated pay of Rs 18000/- per month. On 7th July 2015 around 04:20 pm, I received information from CKD Institute of Management & Technology, Amritsar that I was relieved from my services without any prior notice and without giving any reason for relieving the services. No compensation was given to me while relieving without any prior notice. No warning letter was ever issued to me pointing out any inability or incompetency on my part, in due discharge of my duties Many faculty/Staff have been relieved by our institute in a similar manner. This is an act of wrongful termination. It hampered my career. The new teaching session starts at July end. By the time I was relieved, I couldn’t apply in other colleges in my city as their interview process was over. After completion of 1 year, no probation extension letter or confirmation letter was given. My Appointment letter says “You will be on probation for a period of one year which may be extended for a further period not exceeding one year”. I faced discrimination due to pregnancy. After 1 year, all faculty/staff got salary increment. I took 4 months maternity leave without pay. After resuming my services, no salary increment was given to me. I approached the Principal regarding this many times but all in vain. I am UGC NET qualified in management and had prior 2 years of teaching experience from Lovely professional University, Jalandhar. I was also not paid as per AICTE norms. My Appointment letter says “You will draw the salary as per AICTE norms/ VI pay Commission scale”. I was involved in the PTU examinations during Dec 2013, May 2014 and May 2015. I act as printing cell co-ordinator in Dec 2013, May 2014 exams and Dept. Supdt. in May 2015 exams. I was not paid for performing these duties for examinations as per PTU norms. I request you to kindly look into the matter.
